  1. Looking for suggestions for a very small DI for under my board. Smallest I can find is a Radial Stagebug at 34mm but that’s cutting it fine. I don’t actually need a DI as it’s a balanced out from my effects unit but I always like having one or a line isolator.

  2. Hi

Can anyone recommend headphones with good isolation for rehearsing with a loud drummer? I currently use Vic Firths but they are really toppy. I find wearing in ears for rehearsals a bit inconvenient and prefer headphones. My drummer really recommends these Ultraphones https://www.gk-music.com/product/ultraphones/ but once you factor in postage and duty etc they are quite expensive.

I quite liked the look of the Direct Sound EX 29s but the drummer said his pair fell apart and were not great.

    any suggestions much appreciated!

    cheers

    S

  3. Extremely rare Fretless Ric. Reluctantly putting this up for sale, not using it and it is too cool to be hanging about unused and I'm after a lightweight 5. It's an amazing bass and top notch condition for a bass from 2004. Comes with a PVC Rickie case!

Just for info I’d consider trades/px for a good lightweight 5 string.

    £2200 plus p&p  £1900 plus p&p

Got my eye on a 5 string hence the reduction!

Get back to me with any questions.

  4. Just dug out my old OC-2, going through a bit of a vintage pedal phase! Unfortunately, the label appears to be lost so I'm trying to date it, any ideas appreciated!

Supposed to be like an SVT in a box, isn't it? Have you used any other such pedals? Can you comment on how it compares?

I have had various Sansamps and an EBS Microbass. Good pedals though it's only recently I've been ampless so difficult to compare, I have a Helix LT and a Stomp XL which sound great. I used the EBS straight to FOH a few times and I thought it was really good, though it was a while back. This wee thing, even though it looks complex, is actually very straightforward once i worked out what most of it does (I had to look at the actual Simplifier manual tho 😬).

In headphones and through my studio monitors it really does sound good .... i feel bad but I'm a fan!

  6. Picked up a SB315 for peanuts but the cost keeps going up! Absolutely great bass and slightly unusual as it has a transparent finish. I’ve removed the stock pre and installed an Audere which sounds tremendous. The plan being to replace the black hardware with gold but I can’t find a drop in bridge and I am scared of drills! I’m all set for the 80s revival.

  7. I did a bit of research and it would appear to be a very faithful copy, apart for some switches. Also some pics I saw suggest the internal electronics are remarkably similar. Probably have build issues but it seems solid.

  8. Was looking for a preamp EQ type pedal for using at home and on impulse bought this Ly-Rock Tonemonster from AliExpress. In my defence I didn’t know it was such a rip off of the Bass Simplifier!

Have to say it sounds really quite good tho! Dunno if it’s anything like the real thing.  It is very tweakable got some really cool tones and seems very well made but still ….

And if you like the second channel of MicroBass 3 but not bothered about overdrive, there is the EBS Stanley Clarke.  It doesn't have a tuner though.  They market it as an 'Acoustic Preamp' due to the features like 10 Mohms input impedance, mic input, and notch filter, but it's good on electric too.  It's my current preamp and I use my P bass through it.

Could double in the upright and get rid of my Headway maybe.
