I'm not sure we have a clear definition of Pro or if there is one.
Here's a scenario :
" We have an 8 week European tour booked. We liked you and we feel you'd be a great match for the tour. It pays $400 00 a week. Can you be ready to join us at the airport next week ? "
It's not allot of money but understand allot of bass players don't make allot of $$$ on these tours.
Me, I'm pensioner with nothing holding me down. My answer would be yes.
In this scenario am I a Pro?

Dave , Yeah we play the HD Museum allot. We have an " in " with the director. However, as you know all it takes is a change in management and your back to square one.

Not our best, however I'll post anyway. New Years Eve at The Barley Pop.

Like I said NYE gigs should be a
" slam dunk " proposition.
The room was packed and the dance floor filled.
Highlights, the band sounded good,
3:00-6:00 I was home before 8:00. And everybody in the band got an extra 100 bucks in tips.

Great thread !
Guys, have a great NYE,whether your staying in or gigging. If you are gigging load up early and arrive early if you can.
I hope all of you have engaged crowds and the band locks in tight within the first few bars.
It's the last gig of the year for most of us.
Have a blast and get home safely.

They use to play at the "sock hops" back in the early 70s at my college. Tom was using Orange way back then.
The idea of the 12 string bass is cool , however I would imagine maintaining one would be a pain.

We're playing The Barley Pop in Germantown, 3:00-6:00. This is our 3rd year playing this gig.
Our band leader and husband are hosting an after party at their home.
A long night for an "Old Timer" like me.
Merry Christmas guys. Play, have fun and get home safely on New Years Eve.

I've heard negative stories about Rics even the MIJ Ibanez copies which I would have thought were a good alternative.
I'm not sure I could recognize a good Ric from a bad one.
