  1. Do allot of you guys play Cricket ? Blue
  2. I'm 69 and been doing this at one level or another since I was 13. I think about throwing in the towel occasionally. The thing is , I really can't. I'm retired and I depend on the supplement income from gigs. Plus If I quit I'd have nothing to do. Blue
  3. I still struggle with poor attendance and for as long as I've been doing this I shouldn't. I still let it get to my head and playing. Blue
  4. Sometimes we're set up to fail. Ever play a bar/pub gig and they have you play in a separate room with no bar and no bar service. Over here it's the "kiss of death" for a gig. Blue
  5. Allot of young people. Nice ! Blue
  6. Home Grown Blues Festival Tomorrow Sunday 5/21 3:00 @ Foundry 45 Kewaskum WI Maple Road Should be a fun gig,10 bands 2 stages and fantastic weather Sound and lighting provided. Blue
  7. Nice theater !
  8. Sounds like , don't engage him unless you have an escape plan. Lol Blue
  9. Agreed, once you get use to being treated and paid appropriately it's hard to turn back. Blue
  10. It's work but fun work. I've always loved the idea of getting paid to have fun. I not sure I ever have the same " work" feeling you'd get from a traditional job. Blue
  11. I think allot of local bands get in the habit of accepting low pay gigs. It's ok to reject those gigs. I get how young new bands have to take those gigs. Blue
  12. It took 15 years but we finally were able to graduate from pub/bar gigs. Most gigs are upscale events where we play 80 minute. No more 8-12 gigs. We're pretty good with socials and networking with decision makers at the county , municipal and State level . Blue
  13. "Ridiculously huge amounts of money." That's best kind of money to get. Lol 😆 Blue
  14. I would bet a few folks here don't live in " find another band " territory . Areas where opportunities are limited. Blue
  15. I think the reason I'm still in this band after 15 years is because I never clear the air or say anything. Lol 😆 Blue
  16. Anyone willing to share their thoughts ? For me it would be more overall communication and transparency. But at the same time I don't think we're a band that can do that. Blue
  17. I see Ringo will be in town soon, Milwaukee WI. I plan on going to see him. Blue
  18. This is great point for gigging guys. Me; I know playing sitting down is easier than standing up and playing. I wish I could be more disciplined and practice standing up. Blue
  19. If he does I'll hire him.😂 Blue
  20. That might work for some guys. Me, I'm not a " wing it" guy. Blue
  21. Agreed, I think my guy thought he could get by with his looks. Blue
  22. I was going to bring up the same point. Showing up for an audition, you know the songs but the band doesn't . A very frustrating scenario indeed . Here's a thought, if your auditioning for people you don't know always ask how long the other members have been with the band You might be auditioning for a guy that's trying to save a sinking ship. Meaning they were not only auditioning bass players bur drummers, singers and guitarists. And the guys you played with at the audition were new members that barely knew the audition. Blue
  23. That's a good benchmark.👍 Blue
  24. Played correctly no songs are easy, not for me.. Perfect example, " I Get Around" by The Beach Boys. However there was plenty of time to learn 4 oldies. Blue
