  1. I've been there. Played with this front guy/ guitarist and song writer. This guy lived in a huge expensive home. I found out too late , all the guy wanted to do was play " rock star" in his basement. Blue
  2. That's slowly changing here. Pub and bar gigs used to always be 4 hours. It's just within the past couple of years that bands have been able to negotiate for 3 hours. It's not much of an issue for use .We don't gig as much as we use to because we really would rather take a pass on bar gigs and focus on showcase gigs and the larger festivals and fairs. Don't get me wrong the occasional bar comes up every once in a while. Blue
  3. Agreed, no band has to accept all gigs. We probably turn down more gigs than we accept. Blue
  4. I don't think any of us enjoy waiting around to go on or waiting for other bands to finish before we can go home. Blue
  5. Why not only play with bands that don't gig? Blue
  6. Woodwind, I've read the posts here. I don't think anyone hates gigging. I think we all struggle with certain aspects of gigging. The only exception would be for those who have a real fear of being on stage. Who hates a well paid 40 minute gig with first class dressing rooms and sound and lights provided ? I struggle with the longer gigs. 3 hours is our limit and even 3 hours are tough for me at my age ( 69 ). I also struggle with places that book bands but don't understand bands or how to treat them. 7. Thanks Dave, I hope all is well with you. Daryl
  8. Spend Thanksgiving Eve with Maple Road @The Barley Pop Germantown WI 11/23 7:30-10:30 Thanksgiving Eve is a big gigging night in the States. We have had success with our New Year's Eve gig at The Barley Pop.This is the first time we've played there on Thanksgiving Eve. I don't know what to expect. I'll let you know how it goes. Blue
  9. Cool , looks very historic. Blue
  10. It was a good gig. The 2 1\2 sets had a nice flow. I thought we sounded pretty good. Nice crowd and a few fans showed up. The Motor is always a nice gig. Blue
  11. Excellent, any serious gigging band is already heavily booked into 2023 and has some kind of business model in place and has a great network and connections. For bands that want to gig allot should understand it's hard work and not a hit or miss proposition. It's important to understand the value of your contacts. Losing a contact can be the kiss of death for a gigging band. Blue
  12. Good story. If I ever dep I'll make sure I ask a little bit about the folks I'm playing with. Blue
  13. Cool pics. Blue
  14. Hi Dave, I do not use an amp for acoustic gigs. I walk in with my Gibson ES-335 or my German made Hofner Club bass and an instrument stand and DI right into the PA. And not to rub it in, I don't drive to gigs anymore. The guys pick me up in the van. How are you doing Dave? Blue aka Daryl
  15. Wow, not many gigs in October. We had a cool Halloween gig but we were cancelled due to double booking. There was also a change of venue ownership. We should talk about that. Acoustic gig this weekend were back at The Motor. She's Right I'm Left Saturday November 5th, 5:30-8:30 The Harley Motor Restaurant& Bar Milwaukee WI Blue
  16. I gig and rotate about 7 different bass guitars. Not one band member has even made a comment. I don't think most guys know one bass from the other or even notice what bass your playing. I actually think I could show up with a Fender Stratocaster and they wouldn't even notice. Blue
  17. What is this Dog & Duck. Is it a franchise? Blue
  18. " Played to nobody" Jack , as you know , that happens to all of us sooner or later. Blue
  19. What a great looking theatre.Historic ! Blue
  20. I'm glad the new owners are keeping the live music model. Over here in the States a change of ownership is usually the kiss of death to live music. Blue
  21. Dave, It's kind of cool because it's all tourists. Blue
