I could never get the hang of singing and playing bass. It's held me back as well . I can get out a few background vocals but that's about it. Blue Blue

No regrets here either. At 70, I'm thankful I can get up, put my gear together and drive to a gig. My point is ,at my age good health beats out everything. It can be taken away from us in the blink of an eye. Blue

I wish I was more a part of the gig decision making process. I don't know why they take certain gigs and reject others. I'm a sideman, I guess it's none of my business. Blue

Me too, I would go the di route, no amp with the Kemper floor model. But I'm not sure how it would work for bass. Our guitarist uses a Kemper with no amp. He shows up at gigs with a back pack a guitar and a stand Blue

I get the whole meeting up with musicians with musical tastes closer to mine. Thing is, I have to be gigging, I'm one of the few that needs the money. A band with my musical tastes probably wouldn't get many gigs. Friends have told me: " Daryl ,your already in the best band for you" Blue

No, I would have taken pics of the bass and explained to them how the bass was shipped. They should have given you a credit . I'm concerned about internal damage that might surface in the future. Can you send it back? Blue

Yeah, I can see a little of that flapping. Unfortunately I've played some outside gigs with embarrassing accommodations for the band. Blue

Yeah that was pretty cool. I bet it was one our parents that called in the story and made sure our names were spelled correctly. Winning that contest means more to me now than it did back in 1971. I think the prize was $400.00. Good money for 1971 and a bunch of 17 year olds. They mentioned " Red Bread" an awesome power trio. They could cover Led Zeppelin like nobody's business. They had my friend Chuck Burgi on drums. He's been Billy Joel's drummer for the past 25 years. He replaced Liberty Devito. Blue

That's the way it should happen if the drummer is a true mate. If our drummer or a dep strays I'll make a few motions and try and que them back in. I was out gigging before all my band members were born. Which means I have a bit of a different reference to the whole " being in a band" thing. And I get it, I know the way I see things tends to be a bit dated, out of step and old fashion. I guess I'm no longer considered part of Young America. Lol At the end of the day, I'm a hired gun and have learned to keep my mouth shut. Probably why I'm still in the band after 15 years. If you blow up the image and have good eyesight you can read it. It's about my high school band in 1971. I really can't expect my bandmates to have any kind of reference to 1971. Blue

We use RCFs for our smaller profile acoustic gigs. No amps we're all DI. They are great ! Blue

I'm a 60s/70s guy. I think bass guitar was much more prominent back then. I'm not sure younger folks understand the importance of bass. I get the same thing, they don't want bass in their monitors or I'm asked to move my monitor away from them. Most of the drummers I know that are over 65 get it and want to hear allot of bass. I've also heard from some punters I'm too low in the house mix. Blue

2nd gig this weekend. Another acoustic gig. It was a private 60th birthday party. I'm sure most of you have done these background gigs. About 100 people with allot little kids running around. What can I say, good hours 5:30-8:30 and good food especially the egg rolls. I got home at 9:00. Blue
