  1. It's part of our job in my band. During breaks we're required to go out and chat with people and thank them for coming out and supporting us. After all there are plenty of other places those folks could have been. Going off and hiding in a corner by yourself during a break would not work with us. Blue
  2. Isn't a dance groove based in a scale ? Blue
  3. Agreed, I think I'm introverted most of the time. However, at gigs I get to be a different person for a few hours. Even during breaks when I'm chatting with people I'm charming and witty. When the gig is over and I'm back to normal life I'm very shy snd quiet. Blue
  4. I only know two guys that have made a good living as pro touring performers. Going back to their High School days both were musically light years ahead of everyone else even back then. But here's the thing at a young age both were willing to take huge risks that most wouldn't take. So, I would say Pros are willing to take risks. Blue
  5. What do you think about this? And I guess I'm bringing " Pro Opportunities " into the mix. Don't bands that have " Pro Opportunities " have an A List of players to call in most cases ? If you are not on that list your chances wouldn't be very good. Blue
  6. I'm not sure we have a clear definition of Pro or if there is one. Here's a scenario : " We have an 8 week European tour booked. We liked you and we feel you'd be a great match for the tour. It pays $400 00 a week. Can you be ready to join us at the airport next week ? " It's not allot of money but understand allot of bass players don't make allot of $$$ on these tours. Me, I'm pensioner with nothing holding me down. My answer would be yes. In this scenario am I a Pro? Blue
  7. Thanks again Dave. To be honest I'm not sure how stable we are. Members of the band are half my age and have careers and busy lifestyles. Daryl
  8. Dave , Yeah we play the HD Museum allot. We have an " in " with the director. However, as you know all it takes is a change in management and your back to square one. Daryl
  9. Thanks Marrtthebass. It's a great sounding room. Daryl
  10. Your in my prayers Martt. πŸ™ Daryl
  11. Dave, We'll be back at the HD museum on 1/14. I'll take some pics. Daryl

  14. Not our best, however I'll post anyway. New Years Eve at The Barley Pop. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1149239815962581&id=100000222668845&sfnsn=mo&mibextid=RUbZ1f Blue
  15. Nice amount of playing space, love your back drop and cool looking drum kit. Blue
  16. Nice and I like the energy on stage.πŸ‘ Blue
  17. Like I said NYE gigs should be a " slam dunk " proposition. The room was packed and the dance floor filled. Highlights, the band sounded good, 3:00-6:00 I was home before 8:00. And everybody in the band got an extra 100 bucks in tips. Blue
  18. You know your having a good time if a shoe sails past your head or if someone falls backwards onto your monitor.πŸ˜€ Blue
  19. Great thread ! Guys, have a great NYE,whether your staying in or gigging. If you are gigging load up early and arrive early if you can. I hope all of you have engaged crowds and the band locks in tight within the first few bars. It's the last gig of the year for most of us. Have a blast and get home safely. Blue
  20. They use to play at the "sock hops" back in the early 70s at my college. Tom was using Orange way back then. The idea of the 12 string bass is cool , however I would imagine maintaining one would be a pain. Blue
  21. Love the artwork and promo poster.πŸ‘ Blue
  22. " More money" that's my favorite kind of money.πŸ˜€ Blue
  23. We don't have no smooches over here.πŸ˜’πŸ˜” Blue
  24. New Years Eve gigs are usually a "slam dunk" proposition. You guys will be just fine. Blue
