We played a local show for the Home Grown Foundation. They are big promotors of local artists and original music. Natural outside amphitheater. About 150 people showed up. We had an opener, we played 7-9. We used a dep drummer. I'd give us a C+. Blue

Dmccombe, I took a few pics for you at the HD Museum yesterday. The gig went well. Great weather and receptive crowd. Blue

Seems like we all played on a farm or a camp ground last night. Lol Blue

Looks like a cool gig. Blue

Thanks Dave, but it's not that glamorous. They found out I was getting lost on the way to gigs and that I turned down a one way street and had cars driving towards me. Lol Blue

Yes, Dave, I don't think we book anymore 4 hour bar gigs anymore. Those long hour gigs are no longer realistic for me at age 68. And lucky me, I no longer have to drive to gigs. They pick me up in the van. Two acoustic gigs this weekend. We're opening for a national touring Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band at The Holy Hill Art Farm tonight, 1 hour. Saturday we play the Harley Motor Bar & Restaurant at The Harley Museum Complex Saturday, 5:30-8:00. Blue

We had a good gig at a multi band event last Saturday. Well attended. We played from 4:00-5:30. Blue

Depends on what you are looking for. Is you're goal to be in a gigging band? Blue

Maybe, The Kemper is complicated and they're not cheap. $1,700.00 Blue

Nice gear. I rotate several GK heads with the old GK RBX cabs. The cabs are like carrying an air conditioner. Our guitarist went Kemper. He walks into gigs with guitar in one hand and the Kemper in his back pack.

I haven't found any bass amps I'd consider light. I'm actually thinking about going the Kemper route with their stage floor model and go direct into the PA. Blue

I'm 68 and even standing up performing for 3 hours is a challenge. No way could I work a 6 hour retail shift stocking and waiting on customers. Blue

Thanks Blisters I'm running out of topics. I might post some thoughts on sound and lighting. Blue

Unfortunately we booked all our summer and fall gigs before the gas prices went up.😒 Blue

I think depending on gig money like me is dangerous. However, I'll make $500.00 bucks this weekend from two gigs. I apologize if I've come across like I'm completely dependent on gig money. I'm not. I have a pension, however gig money is a significant supplement. Here in the States allot of retired guys work part time retail jobs to supplement their pension. I could never make $500.00 from 6 hours of working in a store. Blue

I thought all you guys do arena and stadium shows. 😀 Blue

It's a little surreal loading my bass into my car at age 68 and you think back realizing you were doing the same thing on a Friday or Saturday night when I was 16. Thanks for sharing your story. Blue

Enjoy that Cougar attention while you can. They are not interested in gents my age. Blue

I wish I was in my late 40s.😀 Blue

We played an acoustic gig last night. It was a private high school graduation party with an unappreciative crowd. The weather was great, the sound was great, we worked our butts off. They slipped every member an extra hundred bucks. I've always been an amature with a professional attitude. Blue

I have two childhood musician friends that have survived and made a good living as professional musicians. The others I know that went the pro route have struggled and have had problematic lives. Blue

The hassles are minor when your band mates are wonderful. I should say wonderful and smart. Blue
-
Agreed, for those of us lucky enough to have reached pension age we have to respect are band mates that are still working and in a busier time of their lives. Blue

Very astute comment Casapete. I think the serious musician will ask specific question about finances and the band members before joining. Ask who depends on the band for income and how many schedule conflicts did you have last year or how many gigs did you turn down because members couldn't play the gig. Blue
