  1. Not a new topic but usually a good one. Whether your band breaks up, you quit or get fired, or your a newbie looking for your first band, finding the right band might be challenging. I'll throw this out there, you might not want to start your search until you have carefully defined what your looking for. Consider; 1.What kind of people do I want to work with.. 2.Travel, commute, where does the band rehearse. 3.Genre 4.How is the band organized Share what you look for in a band and how you approach your search. 2. I always make sure to see Jeff when he comes to Milwaukee. The smaller the venue the better. Jeff played the rather small Turner Hall ( an old gym from the 50s). I arrived early, real early walked in on their sound check. Here I am, alone with Jeff, Tal and Vinnie. When I realized what I had done I freaked out , turned around and left before I got the boot. Great night, great show, somehow I ended up standing in front of the stage with Rick Neilson from Cheap Trick. Blue
  3. Nigel liked Hot Rods as well. Blue
  4. I don't know how any local bar band can survive without hitting social media hard. Blue
  5. Nice, I recently bought new tires for my car with gig money. Blue
  6. I'm not sure it's that simple. Things happen. A really good band can be booked into the wrong venue and have a bad night. Best example, being booked into a pub where the clientele has no interest in live music. It's a lose / lose proposition. Blue
  7. Yes, if you can, you always want the higher paying gigs. The pay for Midwestern bar bands in the States is not much different. While we get $500.00 for a four piece we play four hours not two. Festival and fair pay in the summer is much better. $500.00 for 1.5 hours. Blue
  8. An e kit might help. Thing is, a lot of people are not into the " loud rock band" thing. We're a loud rock band and we try to appeal to the folks that are still into loud rock. We tell the owners what we are before they book us. We're not background music. Blue
  9. One of my major complaints. Being separated from the bar. It's always the kiss of death for my band. Do you guys think it's done on purpose in some instances? Blue
  10. When gigs aren't coming in the way they should. Blue
  11. I've watched your clip about a dozen times. Very clever and you guys sound great. Blue
  12. Very cool, nice job! Blue
  13. It's a 2012 , full scale. Really fun to play, very thin neck. Blue
  14. In the States, for bar bands, when the put you in a room separate from the bar, no matter how good you are your doomed. Blue
  15. Thanks, I've been playing all my hollows lately for some reason. Gibson Custom Shop ES-335 in vintage faded cherry. Blue
  16. A fun year, I was 17. Blue
  17. Nice pics of Glastonbury! Here's a little Summerfest History. Back in the late 60s, Mayor Meyers wanted a place where the working class guy that couldn't afford to take his family to Disney World could have an affordable place to take his family during the Summer. Hence Summerfest was born. I think the first Summerfest was in 1969. Blue
  18. Sunfest is a 3 day festival. Summerfest is 2 weeks. Blue
  19. Yeah, they have a greatful dead type following. Great for the jam band fan. Blue
  20. You wouldn't like Summerfest, the crowds are overwhelming. Personally, I love it. Blue
  21. Cheap Trick used to play at my college dances back in 1972 before they broke big. They've never stopped. Blue
  22. Nice overhead evening pic of Summerfest. If you struggle with crowds Summfest is not for you. Also, a bottle of Miller Light beer is at least $7.00. I don't drink, is that expensive? It's like a city of music. Blue
  23. I get the feeling your Glastonbury is a totally different type of festival And if I remember correctly it's very expensive. Blue
  24. Yeah, and the thing is, again it's only a $7.00 investment. Plus there's always a ton of free tickets that seem to come my way. I hope my band gets an evening time slot again. For those of you that play large scale festivals know that day time slots can be not so much fun. Blue
  25. Me too! However I've heard rumor that Frankie Beverly doesn't sing much anymore.😢 Blue
