  1. I’ve got it virtually finished just got to string it up and it’s all done I think it looks loads better than the white body In hindsight I probably should have spaced the knobs a bit further apart but hey ho it’s all part of a learning curve I kinda like the Chrome I might no bother changing to Black........
  2. You’ve done a proper tidy job of that looking really good!!....... But Bigwan is right them knobs have gotta be changed!!!
  3. Good luck!! I’m the same as Jez not my style bass but sounds like an interesting build, very intrested in watching it progress
  4. Oooohh new builds coming up I’m excited already
  5. Go for it!!! It’s such a cheap way of making a bass the way you want as you already have everything..... Hopefully next week I’ll be able to get back on my P Bass build (‘72 style pickguard with MM pickups)
  6. Got some more done over the weekend Belly carve, control cavity and headstock sanded all done now, sanded the whole body down to 240 grit ready from the poly finish which I’ll start tomorrow after I’ve drilled the controls out I was going to change all the hardware to black but with starting a new job funds are a bit tight so I’m going to reuse the chrome but I might change it a later date......
  7. All three look stunning mate!!!! I thought my Jazz bass was light at just under 7 1/4lb it must feel like you playing air being that light.......
  8. @BrunoBass after seeing your P bass!!! I can’t get out of my head how cool this build would look in Bright Orange but I’m now tempted to not have a pickguard
  9. I prefer a satin finish when having a painted finish but when I did one with a gloss finish I used meguiars ultimate compound polish as I found it not as harsh as t-cut
  10. Yeah I’ve got some scrap so I’ll give a coat to see how it looks, I’m hoping that the difference in colour between the sap and heartwood shows a bit more when I clear coat it......
  11. Well that’s quite lucky that I can solder (Also I can Arc/Spot, TIG, MIG and braze weld) and have a decent soldering iron so it shouldn’t really be a problem
  12. I completely agree with you, I always use car paints aswell I find them a lot more forgiving than Nitro
  13. Looking good!!!! I’m really liking the Orange
  14. Thanks I was really happy when I found that board in the shed as it was really clear of knots and the fact it’s got a slight difference in colour between the sap and heartwood was very appealing to me I’m not sure whether to leave it completely natural or stain it down slightly to a maybe a light honey colour??......
  15. I don’t see why it won’t be a nice playable bass that you can gig if you take the time to set it up properly
  16. I thought it would do but I just wanted to check, that’s a result tho I’ve got about 5 rolls of Alu tape left over from a ducting job I did a few months back ........
  17. I want to shield the pickup and control cavities and was wondering if self adhesive Alu tape would work as well as Copper tape????
  18. Now that my other build is well underway and waiting for some black hardware I thought I’d try and push this one on...... I’m going to fill the old pickup cavity and make the new template so I can rout out the two new MM pickup cavities then get the body finished while I’m waiting for the pickups to arrive.....
  19. My Jazz and my Ibby are the same both pickups are the same size
  20. I was gonna try and save a bit of money by putting the chrome back on, but I’m thinking your right it needs to go black.....
  21. Couldn’t get as much done as I hoped today..... Finished the neck pocket and started the belly carve but that’s about it!! I’m not sure whether to do the headstock black or sand it back to maple?? Im not back in work till Friday so I’ll get some more done then.......
  22. Looking great!!!! I see what you mean about it looking White but either way I like it, Definite improvement on the Sunburst......
  23. I’d like to say I planned it that way but.......
  24. Thanks I think it’s a much better shape than the original-ish body shape........
  25. Managed to get some more done today finished shaping the back and got the arm carve cut done (I don’t know if it needs to be a bit bigger) Also got most of the routing done just need to remove the bulk of the neck pocket Tomorrows jobs are the belly carve, sand down and fill little bits of the sides and hopefully the control cavity........
