  1. Thy a different speaker cable would be the first step. A speaker cabinet can be easily checked for operation by using a jack cable into the cabinet and touching the terminals of a 9V battery across the other end. Should produce a hearty thump from the speakers.
  2. Simplest is to measure the 2x10 and build two boxes half the size of the 2x10. That way the speakers should be happy in their new home.
  3. I worked at Automatic Telephones on Edge Lane whilst going to engineer school. While playing for Earl Preston's Reflections I met the girl who became my wife at a venue somewhere off Queens Drive called Nalgo on June 6TH 1968. Earl Preston, real name George Spruce, was a Merseybeat personality. LOL
  4. Too much partying at the Cavern?? Does that place even exist anymore?
  5. Keep us informed of your progress.
  6. As someone who went SpeakON only many years ago I wonder at the negative thoughts they cause. Jack plugs when plugged in and out short circuit the speaker outs on the amp. These are very harmful the the health of the amplifier. SpeakONs have solved that problem. They also prevent the use of signal cables os speaker leads. Win - win in my book!
  7. People are allowed to protect their intellectual property and this includes schematic diagrams. If there is something "special" within that diagram sending out copies willy nilly means that anyone can clone that piece of 'special" rendering it worthless.
  8. Make sure that the amplifier sleeve doesn't block any ventilation holes in the amp's case. You don't want the amp to overheat in use.
  9. I would contact Epifani and ask them for the schematic. If nothing else they could suggest a place to take the amp to for repair. In future take the amp home with you to prevent unauthorized use. Is the guilty player going to cough up for the repair?
  10. Posts like the OP make me remember all the gigs I played in the UK with a 50W amplifier! How things change eh? LOL
  11. I don't use regular bass amps, I use stereo power amps. That way I'm not restricted by some amp. designers short sightedness. LOL
  12. I use Acme Sound B2 2x10 three way speaker cabinets. I own four and all are 4Ω impedance. Using a stereo power amp that is stable at 2Ω per channel, as most pro ones are, I can drive all four at once should I need to. As a statement of fact ALL of my amplifiers are happy driving into 2Ω loads. The difference between an amplifier designed for 4Ω loads and one for 2Ω loads is very little.
  13. Not everyone has the freedom to visit here whenever he/she wishes. Add to that that good information is never wasted as someone may very well need the same questions answered as the OP.
  14. For interest I looked up the Trace Elliot 1200. I was very disappointed to see that it is incapable of driving a 2Ω load. In my mind such a capability in a bass amp is almost a necessity!
  15. In my mind it's better to have too many speaker cabinets rather than too few. If what you bring turns out to be not up to the job you can't really go back home for more.
  16. 'Cos two are always better than one! We learned that as kids!! LOL
  17. I've always made my own speaker cables. I use two core black rubber insulated power cable, IIRC 12 gauge. I've never had a problem with any of them. For storage I lust loop them end to end until I get three or four feet length and just then tie each of them in a knot. They then go into a milk crate with others of their ilk. In my mind concern about speaker cables is much ado about nothing!
  18. Don't worry Bro - we'll help you find it again!!
  19. Thinking on this, I came to the conclusion that if money was no object the last thing I'd consider would be a Combo! A combo by its very nature is a Bunch of compromises in order to fit into the combo format. That said I do love my Ampeg B15NF!
  20. Those little amps sure ain't cheap!!
  21. Your question should be can your PA tops handle a bass without being damaged? Also an active cabinet will not alter the combo's output to 4 ohms. In my mind doing as you suggest will gain you you very little if anything.
