1. I woudnt worry,I have a Trace Mk2 v4 200watt 4 kt88s. It gets pretty damn hot which is handy for the kebeb rotisserie mounted on the rear! Hot hot hot...lol
2. Is it an old Rik? I had one once with this problem and even changed the pickups! Found in the end it was slight corrosion on the inside of the input jack, not the tip(pos) but the outer earth bit of 1000 wet and dry did the trick, couldnt believe it! Worth a look?
3. 72 Fender Jazz in black, mostly original, Neck date 7 oct 72,pots week 44 of 72, serial number 35#### original bridge and tuners, scratch plate not original but custom cream tort.Neck has original frets and some wear but not too bad. Body finish is pretty good but paintwork cracking,no extra holes in body or routes either. The bass only weighs 9.6lbs too which is very light for a proper jazz! Two knobs have been replaced ( non bakelite ) and the chrome bridge and pick up covers are old but not original but you wouldnt know it. There is a chip in the original fretboard finish which has been resin filled but doent affect the playing and a chip out the headstock again no issues Need a straight sale due to no Job!! Original Fender case too, would prefer pickup but can courier On Hold http://i1203.photobu...erJazz72001.jpg Heres a link to some pics http://tiny.cc/bsxeex http://tiny.cc/5wxeex
4. These were bought as AXYs so that would make them hum cancelling, the series l/ll were true single coils pickups according to Alembic with dummy hum canceler. Your right that it will need a low impedance pre or booster like the Boogieman, but cause they are wound hotter they will work with most preamps too.Albeit a lower output though>
5. This really is a fantastic bass, the build quality is superb. If only another name on the headstock!! lol.
6. I play and sing in a band with 2 guitarists. One with a jcm 800 the other a Messa 2x12 .We did have an issue as stated on other posts with overlapping frequencies, our main lead guitarist had and awesome full sound on his own but soon as the bass and drums played he almost melted into the mix. The simple solution was to eq his guitar and remove some bottom and lwer mids, our other guitarist has a thinner upper mid sound so it was just getting the balance right. As far as 2 cabs? Bass frequencies get everwhere so you shouldnt need to separate cabs unless the guitarist on stage left cant hear you,bar that as stated previously as long as you comfortable and hear yourself ( and others ) the rest is down to the mix. That said,I have 2 mark bass 4x10s stacked so I never have a problem! LOL. Speaker leads are pretty much available anywhere and any length and no harm in trying splitting cabs, let us know the results!
7. For sale is this Jap Bitsa, its an Ibanez roadstar bass body with a super single pickup ala Ibanez musician and the original active circuit but the neck was warped, couldnt find a Ibanez neck but I acquired this rare El maya neck from about the same date (1980) very P bass feel. Really super low action with lovely binding and original gotoh tuning pegs too. All works perfectly and great sound. The neck is slightly smaller in the pocket but its as solid as a rock and no issues at all. After a straight sale for SOLD ON EBAY posted or can knock £20 of if you can collect,I dont have a hard case but would be packed well, cheers http://tiny.cc/to7qdx
8.
That's probably the nicest T Bass I've seen...just wish I had £600 knocking around
Yeh,I have seen a good few colours but not many tobacco bursts
9. Another bass has to go,this really is a bargain for the build quality, knocks spots off jap fenders. Schaller machine heads, ebony board, lovely red with great wood showing through ( lol ) with wood laminate pick guard. Active electronics bass, treble, blend and volume, emg active pick ups fitted( Not shown ) removed the vintage Di marzios Nice weight and balance ( Just over 9lbs ) Plays and sounds great with a superb low action After straight sale for £425 posted in a hard case or £400 collected if you wanna try before you buy? Cheers http://tiny.cc/9bvqdx
10. I imported this set of Alembic vintage pickups and the plan was to install them in an Ibanez musician but didnt have the heart to route the holes in a mint bass so here they are. Great for any bass and they dont need the active alembic pre amp to work. They cost me over £300 with postage and import tax so after (price drop ) £200 posted.Cheers http://tiny.cc/uluqdx
11. Got too many basses and selling this fantastic Trace T bass. Status electronics and pickups with hum canceler under the pick guard, active circuit with bass, treble, volume and blend, graphite reinforced neck, fantastic low action. This really does sound and play great, perfect balance and not too heavy around 9lbs. Original Status/Trace case too! After a straight sale £600 posted. Will knock £25 off if you want to collect and try it out. Hopefully this link should work. http://tiny.cc/dftqdx
12. I buy this bass,I buy this bass,I buy that bass,I change the pickups, amp and cabs,I buy the same basses again, yep, sounds like me. A good chunk is in your fingers and playing style, for me new strings are a must! Had all sorts of pickups fitted, each sound different too but our guitarist reckons he could walk in and listen to a band and would know it was me!!! That maybe playing style, technique, good or bad,the attack on the strings etc, influences, under the influences or some nerds prefer duracel to ever ready ( I have seen discussions! ) It will be me playing ,my way,not copying just enjoying my own tone that I seem to always try to change, lol.
13.
A lot of good stuff here, thanks to all. I think the fact that we play 2 x 90 minute sets (approx 32 songs) doesn't help.
Blimey,2x90s? Thats alot of padding, thats 5 minutes a song! We do punk songs,15 in a set and some jamming 45 mins a set! Plus no slow numbers.
14. Played Dep bass for the Sensational Soul Band last night. Really enjoyed playing classic soul music, normally I am thrashing it out playing and singing classic punk songs, change as good as a rest I suppose. First time played with the guys and no rehearsal, couple of mistakes but not too bad. Drummer was bob on,he really went for it which suites me. Great compliment from him, after the gig he said it was like I had played with em for years!! Feel quite proud. Cant beat that... May be a few more Soul gigs..
15. Here is my lovely 1977 Ibanez silver series, one piece maple neck, skunk stripe, walnut plug 3 piece body and great jazz tone, only mod is a Badass and some long shaft reverse tuners. Bit of a rare model really as only made fro one year in this config. I have a few Jazz basses including an original 72 Fender Jazz ( Geddy lee blocks ) but this really does play better just not quite as thin a neck.
16.
What was the combo? Never cane across it.
The Blx range I think, I have a blx 150 sat on top of one of these in my front room! lol. Over kill? yes, for a home amp.

18. I have just recently purchased a 72 Fender jazz with maple neck, black block inlays, original frets.Body is black over a sunburst finish? Read loads on forums and the neck dates changed in 71 to an 8 digit but some necks in 72 had the normal day month year as this does which makes sense but has any one seen Fenders with a SPECIAL stamp also. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I hope this link works.!! http://bit.ly/1ow2IJJ
