Of the lighter ones I have owned the heads I currently enjoy are Orange Terror Bass 500. It doesn't have a great variety of tones in the bin but I really like what it does - not everyone does so caveat emptor. Insanely loud, old school rock amp.
I've also been enjoying the Orange Terror Bass 500. I originally bought it as a back up for my Ampeg, then I thought I'd get a couple of Orange SP212's and use it for small gigs. However it's been my main gigging rig for several months now! Like Paul S says it doesn't have a lot of variety but if you like what it does it's great, especially for its' size and weight

Punters wanting to talk to you when you're playing.
I picked up a tip from someone on here that has worked the one and only time I needed it which was to say 'that is later/ in the second half' and the guy went away happy, when we didn't play it he came up and the end and I just told him we had run out of time but would play it next time. He was half soaked and seemed happy with that.
I've used this approach for many years & it usually works well. However there's always the odd occasion when at the end they then want to tell you what else should be in your set & other songs that you should learn!! -
It's no good, my will has failed. There is a wanted ad up as we speak for an epiphone thunderbird (sorry Blue, my pockets just aren't that deep to stretch to a Gibson at the moment)
I've found the Epiphone Pro's to be really close to my Gibson Tbirds. To my mind there's slightly less resonance in the Epiphone body. I've given my Epi's a bit of a make over though, as you can see from the photo's (hopefully!)
That's Photoshop'd or he's lying on the floor!

You can't see the end of the headstock - probably a wire to the ceiling, or perhaps a very large helium ballon ;-)
Damn!! I'd have got away with it if it wasn't for you pesky kids!!!

Here's my Ampeg rig plus my brother's 15" cab

Here's my black T'bird with Scratch-It custom it scratch plate

First time I've seen a Ric accused of heinous neck dive crimes. I will have to dig mine out later, in the meantime here are some photos of my T-birds refusing to neck dive

Here are my White Tbirds

Wow, that is a beauty, especially without the pick guard
But being a Fender kindof guy, I'd balance perfectly. Oh, go on....I tell you what, I'll use crayon.
What colour crayon??

Not sure if the photos have uploaded ok but hopefully here are a couple of pics with a nylon strap & no neck dive IMAG0666.jpg IMAG0667.jpg

Funny you should mention the Epiphone non-reverse, I should hopefully have one in need of some repair work on it's way to me shortly
Blimey mate, looking at your sig I can only wish I had space for that many! A few hours thinking time down the pub has failed to dampen my enthusiasm...
That's the advantage of using my parents spare bedroom for extra storage! It has the added bonus of stopping the missus finding out out how many basses I actually have Go for it FinnDave, they are great basses

A wide strap will also help, although I will say again I've had no problems with neck dive on any of mine whether I play with a pick or fingers. I think it's to do with the height & angle you like to have your bass at
-
Yeah, I know a lot of people complain about the neck dive but I can honestly say I've never had that problem with any of my Thunderbirds
-
I've not been impressed with the bolt on neck ones I've tried so far but the through neck pro's are a different matter. I've got currently got 2 Alpine white pro's and although they're not quite as nice as my Gibson's they are not far off, and for the price I think they are a bargain. One thing that did surprise me though was the difference in neck profiles on them. The first Epiphone pro I bought was ok but I found the second one too chunky & ended up getting the neck shaved, so it might be worth trying some before committing to buying.

I put my V4BH through an Ampeg Classic 15 and Classic 2x10 and like you I've never been short of power, but I've also never had a problem getting it to distort & breakup. I restrung one of my Thunderbirds with flats to cut it back a bit, which worked. My amp setting are roughly Gain on 4, bass on 7, mid on 6, Frequency on 3, treble on 5 and master on 6

Hi Burns-Bass, I grew up in Bream but I'm in Cinderford now. I remember the pub scene here in the 90s well, The Woodlands was my local in those days
-
Fair play, that looks fantastic too!!
-
Yeah, I paid £70 plus p&p although this was over 6 months ago so the price may have changed. If you email Marc via the site I'm sure he'll give you and up to date price for one

Here we go - The cover's approx 9.1 cm by 5.5 cm and the pickup itself is approx 6.5 cm by 5.5 cm.

No worries, just give me a minute to get a ruler
