This seems to be the correct compressor thread to post this. Don’t know if anyone has posted this already, but this popped up on my YT feed today. I’m not endorsing it or debasing it (no pun intended), just FYI.

A photo from last night's gig.

I've watched a few of your videos on YouTube, always worth a watch, I love your enthusiasm.

Played an ‘ex-serviceman’s’ club last night. Decent enough stage and a good sized room. During soundcheck an early punter said it was too loud, which didn’t bode well, but they were the first ones up dancing; people are weird. An OK gig, but again there were timing issues of starts, stops, etc, which is starting to grind my gears a bit and it looks like I’m going to have to start counting everything for everyone else’s benefit, to bring them in with nods, etc. Audience seem very low key and felt it wasn’t a good venue for us really, as it all felt a bit flat. Another gig in 2 weeks, hopefully, that’ll be better.

Yeah, I’m looking forward to those being readily available, as that’ll stop me having to customise long scale ones for my Hardly Bent-one.

Short scale flats should be ok (assuming your new one doesn’t have through body stringing).

They have one in Kenny’s, Dunfermline. Some details, but really detailed. https://www.kennysmusic.co.uk/fender-player-precision-bass-maple-fingerboard-ocean-turquoise-with-tortoiseshell-pickguard-p498

The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
ezbass replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
Going up 0.005 on each string seems to work (at least with D’Addarios). I thought the black on your fingers was from a bland new set of La Bella flats (I’ve had that issue with them, when I’ve not wiped them down beforehand). If that’s just grim, eew! -
This does seem to be a recurring theme with them.

Yes the tension is lower due to the scale. SS strings of the same type and gauge do not resolve this (I don't see it as a problem, more a benefit), there's just less waste and potential end wrap issues at the bridge and tuners. As to your picture; LaBellas? -
You are not wrong, endless walking lines can be wearing on the ears, not to mention fingers, and make everything sound the same. There is an awful lot to be said for concentrating on playing, rather than gear. However, I think a satisfying tone and the right feel under the fingers encourages you to play and practise more.

A Canadian version of Budgie is another description I’ve heard and is even more accurate.

It looks and feels very much like The Bass Gallery website. When I say very much like, I mean exactly like.

They were all on their game for this gig. Joni's voice is especially good during this period.

I've been listening to these and, unsurprisingly, I like the sound of the Evah Pirazzi weichs and Spirocore weichs. However, I am also very taken with the Presto Jazzicatos. I only have an EUB (NS WAV4) and have also heard those Prestos demoed on a Harley Benton EUB, which transformed that particular instrument. Ooh, down the rabbit hole I go!

I haven’t watched it for a while, and can’t remember what I thought. Leave that one with me, I’ll rewatch and listen. The only thing I can recall is that Geddy struggles vocally.
