  1. My thoughts exactly. Always fancied a Gibson/Epiphone 1275 (very Page/Lifeson) but I'd never be able to play it for more than a minute or so.
  2. Gigs in the summer and spring of this year. Sounds like the place you want to be to hear some guy's somewhat skewed, invective about anything it seems. I'm interested by "basic competence" but a "good feel", they seem a bit at odds. As does "basic reliability and discipline", surely you are or aren't? Anyone responding to the ad might get to feel what Gilmour, Wright and Mason felt during The Wall period and beyond.
  3. These NBD threads are dangerous and can arouse GASeous urges for the strangest of things.
  4. Slug control tape from B&Q is a good place to start. My local hardware store were out of copper tape recently, I bought aluminium tape instead, works just as well.
  5. Just saw The Skids and From The Jam at Perth concert hall. A bit underwhelmed really. Sound was OKish, but I think I could’ve mixed it better (drums too loud, vocals too low). From a bass perspective, the bass player in The Skids played a ‘Ray, which was muddy and incoherent, whilst Bruce Foxton’s P snarled and was maybe even too loud in the mix, but it was definitely more articulate. Bruce looked rather old and tired as did Richard Jobson. Oh yeah, they played Town Called Malice wrong.
  6. I knew there would probably be a specific product available, especially given the existence of the Hofner violin, etc.
  7. I'd probably replace the tuners for something with a larger capstan.
  8. From The Jam, tomorrow at Perth Concert Hall, with The Skids in support.
  9. Surely a mistype, it was the ‘50s (original & ’57 P Basses, Telecaster and Strat all had all maple necks).
  10. I find that confusing too. If the pickup is in the same position, it won’t be a million miles away tonally IMO.
  11. Can’t find the ‘Stang-alike on the HB or Thomann sites anymore
  12. I listened to Pino on Gary Numan's, I Assassin, because I'm a massive Pino fan. Prior to this album, Numan had used Mick Karn. On I Assassin, Pino sounds very much like Mick. As that album was pre Pino's more widespread notoriety via Paul Young's No Parlez, I wonder if Mick was an influence on the blossoming Pino?
  13. I loved that shop, the guys were so welcoming and not typical of the other shops in that area. I was sad to see it go so quickly.
  14. Wild is the Wind - Bowie
  15. I think so, even though it's missing the preamp (easily sorted with some eq if you really want that full on zing).
  16. Sorry,
  17. There’s one for sale here, might be worth asking the seller.
  18. Fnarr, fnarr!
  19. It’s like it was meant to. Nice one.
  20. Had to do this with my most recent bass. A PITA, to be sure but, once done, shouldn’t need doing again.
  21. Quality work!
