Lots of interest all of a sudden, but this bass is now on hold pending the usual.

Hmmm. Have a bump. And a PM is coming your way.

Hi everyone
I've joined today... Picked up my first bass only 2 years ago at the ripe age of 44 and have been totally bitten by the bug.. Hence a growing collection of basses that are spurring me on to learn to play better!
Welcome on in. There's one thing we all like here on BC and that's pictures, if you have a growing collection let's see 'em -

Phil Jones Suitcase or similar, small, light, clear as a bell, perfect for monitoring.
-
A great sounding cab, really has its own place in mix together with good on stage monitoring, powerful too. Have a bump.

I really like the 5 string style pick guard!
I don't mind the normal 'Ray 5 p/g particularly, but there is something just right about the 'normal' p/g and electronics plate. -
I have been asked a question regarding the overall length of this bass; I can confirm that it is 116.5cm from the tip of the headstock to the base in line with, but not including, the strap button.
-
Union flag for sure. I like the idea of a black, white and grey version too.
-
Yes it is, it just has a volume control, all EQ supplied by the input device; it's a great combo when teamed with the Cub.
-
Not that I'm aware with the standard connections. I'm sure a tech could rig up an extension output but I imagine that the internal speakers would have to be bypassed due to ohm loading.

Love the sound of DS's Fodera as well
Indeed. Whatever one's opinions on the aesthetics of the beast (I quite like it; well it looked OK on Mr Swift as he is a large gent) you can't argue with the sound it made, just right for my ears. -

I didn't make it to the opening credits, I'd been experimenting with Cider and Whiskey...I can't remember the results.
YEE and closely followed by HAR!

Mel C has an alright voice and was ok but showed her popster approach to performance as she lacked any connection to the song and looking like her movements were a bit false, especially when compared to how amazing, soulful and natural Ruby and Charlie were.
Now I found her movements good fun and thought that Charlie missed some cues throwing the arrangements awry, but hey different strokes for different folks. I thought Haim were good, but better on their first appearance. -
I dunno, it doesn't not work for me, very Def Leppardish. I love the look of these basses and the way they shout, "John Hall can suck it!" they're too big a fish for his shysters to intimidate
-
Mel C was a bit good IMO.
That Fodera is sounding nice and punchy; shock, horror, the BBC mix bass so you can hear it! -
Yup. the Haim bassface is there!!!
Still not a patch on Gary Moore's guitar faces tho!!!
Or Joe Walsh. -
I see Mr Swift is using a singlecut Fodera.
EDIT: Beaten to the punch, doh! -

Doesn't matter, it's worth a watch for Haim's bass face alone!
The only reason it's on right now at Ez Towers. -

Blackstar HT-1R or HT-5R would be my choice. Brilliant little amps, and can put out a fair amount of noise if you ever wanted them to.
Guitarist chum of mine just got the 5R, he's very pleased. Fender Super Champ X2 is worth a look too. -
Oh the horror!

If Discreet offers you sweets, politely decline and walk away from him backwards. Welcome to the forum!

He's not wrong though
As to twin 'buckered basses for around £400, Ibanez SRX530 http://www.ibanez.co.jp/products/eb_page13.php?area_id=3&data_id=256&color=CL01&year=2013&cat_id=2&series_id=115
Oh and welcome, more new and young blood always welcome. -
Hello Chris. The first step is admitting you have a problem, so well done there. Step two is to give your gear away
-
Coo! I count 25, but my eye kept being drawn so there could be more. Nice

I'm getting a 'you do not have permission to view' on each of the results
It's a plot
MOO!
'Worn' basses - hot or not?

I don't mind them if the ageing has been done well and is not over the top. I have a '63 P Bass that has really seen some action during its life and wears its battle scars with aplomb. But I've also owned a Fender Roadworn P which I really liked too despite it being faux. I also like new, shiny basses. There are those who like it and those who don't, the classic Marmite analogy, but ultimately for me if a bass plays well, sounds good and the ageing doesn't look like a dog's dinner, I'm OK with it.
