It was all bit too scattergun IMO, it needed more focus; this was nicely illustrated by the soundtracks rarely matching any of the videos. Great to see The Blockheads with a very young Norman

Have a look at Danny Baker's Rockin' Decades on BBC 4 now...!
I really liked this format when he was looking at albums, but this seems a bit po faced. -

My new office is around the corner from the Bass Gallery. Any tips regarding self discipline?

The pino issue does he talk much about his use of the kemper and NIN?
I'm afraid not. -

Really enjoyed reading this post, great explanation of what you want from a bass and how the new one fits your criteria, glad you are enjoying your new twang thang
+1 a very good appraisal of both the new beast and your needs. -

Under-rated by whom? Maybe "less-well-known" would be a better descriptor...
Good point. We don't get much, fortunately, of the 'I don't think they're much good' deriding of other players here, therefore, it is more a case of the lesser mentioned or relatively unknown players. For me it's Chris Childs of, amongst others, Thunder, The Union and many others; a top bloke with a touch and style I borrowed a lot from when I was developing my own style (he was a regular player at a small, local venue). Of the better known players who don't get a mention very much I would add Bruce Thomas of The Attractions and Roscoe Beck. -

I'm now the proud owner of a pristine Lakland 55-02; courtesy of Chris.
Sadly I didn't get to sample the famous tea and coffee (I guess I was too excited and engrossed in bass talk) but EZ towers is a mere 20 minutes away from me so...
Thanks for a superb transaction Chris - I can't wait to try the beast next Sunday.
You're welcome, it's a great bass and I miss it already, but needs must and all that; enjoy.
I too was wrapped up in the bass talk and listening to the very nice tones and grooves being laid down so forgot my duties as host, oops! -
Nice, get in there! I have the same 'one in, one out' rule and sadly said goodbye to my 55-02 yesterday. Every Lakland I have played has been pure class, both US and Skyline; enjoy.

Already downloaded along with purchase of latest issue; an interview with Pino, it had to be bought.
-
Japow bought my Lakland 55-02 today. Thoroughly nice chap, really good communication and a nice, smooth transaction. Yet another BassChat good guy.
-
It was not without regret that this beauty left Ez Towers today; farewell faithful friend, you served me well, enjoy your new home

It's Friday afternoon boys and girls, lighten up a bit this is meant to be a giggle after all; the bit about covering up your nipples made me smile anyway
EDIT: my 'go to' bass is a 5 string fretless so I am all sorts of wrong it appears -

Sound City (Dave Grohls documentary about the studio of the same name) was on the BBC over the weekend, and is currently on iPlayer.
I really enjoyed this, well worth a watch. -
A sexier looking bass (or guitar for that matter when it comes to the Firebird) is hard to imagine and a great sound they make too (John Entwistle & Martin Turner for me); what a nice score, congrats.
-
I tried many fivers against each other (around 12) and chose a Lakland over the others. But that was my hand and fingers, my ears, etc. you need to try and find what suits you best. Also bear in mind that what sounds good soloed might not work best in a live situation (if applicable of course). Ultimately both are very nice pieces of kit and you won't go too far wrong with either.
-
Brilliant concept for an amp and good sounding too. Have a bump.
-
Phew! Good, I was starting to torture myself with the pictures.
-
There's a look at these basses in the latest ibass magazine with GV himself.
-
What a great a video, not only the lovely playing but the background too. If that had another string on it Mrs Ez would be getting very pestered about how much I needed it. GLWTS.

Well this is now mine .
Ooh wotcha got there? Is it a Mayonnes? -
My LMll through a Schroeder 1212L was amazing, great sound and stupid loud which is why I had to move it on as it was barely ticking over in my current band. Because of this I now run a Phil Jones Cub through a PB300, an almost identical tone to the Mark Bass/Schro combo but more refined and articulate, plus I can wind it up and let it breathe.
-
I want going to go but then Lee Sklar was announced, then Jack Bruce and now John Taylor; looks like my 1st Sunday in March is sorted, if only Paul Turner was playing Sunday too.
-
Ibanez GWB35, none more black.
-
BARGAIN! These basses are really nice: great tone; very light; easy and comfortable to play; real players' instruments and those cases are top notch to match.
Continued Mistakes at Gigs.....how would you address this problem?

As Myke asked. Do the punters notice?
This is the big question. Band members are the ones who always notice and usually the perpetrator is the biggest critic of their own playing and does things to make sure it hopefully doesn't happen again. I'd been having a 'blind spot' on one song on and off so I made a big note on my set list and make sure I look at it every time it comes up. This should hopefully be enough for most players, however, if he doesn't really care then that's a different issue and a hard talk, temper or no temper, has to be had.
