I don't think you'd be sorry. Yes there are things that aren't so great, but it's a mid priced bass and some small corners have been cut to get it to a price. I've posted what I think is a fairly comprehensive review here (@RichT might be interested in this too). -

If you still have the receipt, you can contact Gretsch customer services for $100 worth of goodies by way of reparation for misrepresentation. My Sterling’Ray SS weighs 3.4kg. Stick a set of lightweight tuners on one of those and that’ll be very close to 7lbs and under that £1k budget; it’s what I’m doing (more for the better tuners than the weight in my case). The new black/maple/tort version looks great. YMMV. -
Good call! Rock and Roll Jelly is another belter.

I had the PSU fall over on my LM2 when I had one and it seemed to be a thing with all LMs at the time.

Those headstock ‘inlays’ are all sorts of dodgy.

If you want super premium, there’s a Serek up for grabs in the for sale section right now. -

I was going leap in and promote my Class D, Phil Jones Flightcase (which is marvellous BTW) but live, I use it with a PB300, powered cab for more oomph, which, upon checking, is Class A/B (still super light though). Therefore, I have nothing to add except confusion.

It took me a long while to get past Geddy's high tenor and the '80s albums helped with that, but once you get past it, it suddenly works. Peart's lyrics can be a tad 'shaky' but every one of those there's multiple Red Sector A and Far Cry.

I think that’s what I like about them, they’re an embellishment, not the raison d’être of the song as with a lot of guitar heroes. However, when listening and he fires up the solo, it’s almost always an ‘oh yeah’ moment. Definitely a band that was the 3 of them in symbiosis. I’m not a fan of everything they did, the 80-92 period is my favourite. I’d dearly love for them to release a remixed Clockwork Angels, as I dislike that mushy production.

It looks good, When it’s paired, with that pickup, On a Stingray.

I don’t think Alex gets nearly enough plaudits, especially for his rhythm playing. Geddy and Neil are revered, not so much Mr Lifeson. Plus he’s hysterical.
