  1. Many thanks mate. Interesting on the neck front. Both sound quite a handful.
  2. HI there. Currently GASSIng for both of these. Has anyone played both? Love to hear what the differences were. Currently looking for a shop with both in stock to go and have a play about...
  3. I haven't played there, but I've drunk there. Fun place.
  4. The Who - live at Leeds. They're an entirely other band live compared to albums. For me, that album is perfection.
  5. No contract, and I know it would be pretty to kick up a stink - it's just annoyed me.
  6. The organiser is in several bands, there are bands playing that venue every weekend and several bands from last year are playing again this year. Just annoys me that we weren't asked back and but they don't mind using our pic.
  7. Why use a pic of a band that aren't playing?
  8. They may have the right to the actual picture, but do they have right to use our likeness? I admit I know nothing about this!
  9. I was tempted to comment on the poster asking what date we were playing, so they'd have to reply saying we weren't - they just used our picture on the poster. But I don't want to get petty - it is a charity event after all.
  10. Exactly. We never signed anything last year, so they don't have the rights to our image. We don't want to play the festival - it's just a point of principle.
  11. So last year my band played a local festival which raised money for charity, and we went down really well. The festival is on again this year, but we haven't been asked to play. That's fine with us (I can't stand the woman who organizes it, the charity is for stray animals abroad & the sound man is incompetent) but I have seen the poster and they have used a picture of us from last year as the background! It doesn't list us as one of the bands playing and I don't think they are trying to mislead people - is it silly that this has really gypsy's kissed me off?
  12. Sorry to thread hijack, but never heard of this band or song - really enjoyed. Reminded me of Joan Jett. Anyway, I'm off to check out this album. Oh yeah, and your right - great bass sound!
  13. Unfortunately, I can't pop over to Spain to visit his store If you can answer emails prior to sale, no excuse for not replying afterwards. If they don't arrive soon, some lucky company will get 2 orders from me. One to go in my main bass and one to go in spare which currently has Jess' pups. I wan't them to sound the same. Maybe I'll investigate Mojo. Thanks for the tip.
  14. I've read a few posts on here saying emails are replied to before sale, and then nothing after - think I'm the only one who has paid and recieved nothing. I'm sure he did despatch, but's it's simply inexcusable to ignore a customer when they report their item has been lost in transit. Shame. A really good product.
  15. My wife very kindly ordered me some jess loureiro pups for my p-bass early in December last year, and while we can see they were despatched soon after, they have still not arrived. We've emailed several times, but have received zero replies. I going to give it till the end of the month and then raise a dispute with paypal. Anyway, can anyone who has played a jess loureiro p-bass pup recommend a similar sounding alternative? Preferably a company who's 'reply' function on their email works... Thanks in adv, Dan
  16. Was admiring the Mono backpack; until i saw the price!! Can anyone recommend a similar product at a more affordable price???

    Mastering

So my band went into the recording studio yesterday and recorded 3 songs. Few tweaks to make in the mix, but overall we are thrilled with the results. We are now considering putting up on a site like bandcamp. That means we now need to get the songs mastered. Never made it to the mastering stage before. Any advice/recommendstions? No idea of where to start, cost etc. Any help gratefully received.
  18. Really nice gesture by your guitarist. Double thumbs up.
  19. Couldn't agree more, that's why I play right handed even though I'm a lefty.
  20. Last gig we played was at a pub garden 3 day festival. Weather was great so it was well attended, but sound man was dreadful, so stage sound was appalling making our set hard work. When we came off I had lots of compliments on my bass sound, the new original material we played and the group in general. When pubic loves it, it's a great gig - even if difficult stage side.
  21. Where'd you get the lack scratch plate from? Looking great!
  22. When politely asked, I have always allowed other bass players to use my rig - never had a problem. Only once have I refused. My band (London based) had a gig in Brighton. Rather than everyone driving their equipment, we asked the other band if we could use their amps and drums - they flatly refused, so we loaded our cars and brought everything. The local band then swaned in late, no back line with them because they couldn't be bothered to bring it and said they were using our kit. We always prided ourselves on being polite and friendly to bands we shared the stage with, but took great pleasure informing this bunch they wouldn't be playing unless they went home and got their kit, because they sure as well weren't using ours.
  23. Some great tips, thanks. I know I'll be fine to learn how to play the songs - it's being able to memorize them that worries me. Once I have the first 5 or 6 down, I'll be confident. I've already made a play list moisten to at work. Being familiar with the songs is half the battle.
