1.
Update: the order has been cancelled, apparently it should never have been confirmed to begin with. Shame, I was intrigued.
Bad form on Thomann's behalf IMHO. If they couldn't supply, then they should have sent you a normal model. Particularly this long after confirmation.
2. If you're thinking of the Harley Benton HBZ2005, then would the Progressive six string be a possibility? They are a lot cheaper than the HBZ2005, but people who have the progressive HBs seem to like them. (I must admit that personally I don't like the sounds of the demos, but actual owners who can actually hear the full range of sounds are happy. Visually they are less impressive, IMHO, than the stripy neck through HBZ2005.
3. Dekos including bass uke and p-bass. Normal site. https://www.thomann....and_basses.html EDIT: Both instanto-sold-out. I don't know if that's because they were nabbed by automatic software or whether it's Thomann doing things ... not quite database.right.
4. Dekos up including right handed acoustic bass. https://www.thomann....and_basses.html Acoustic bass more expensive than it used to be: http://www.thomann.d...ic_bassdeko.htm Some guitars too, e.g. this one: http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_cst_24tol_tobacco_sunb_deko.htm "Available on request."
5. I met the lady from Monsoon at a festival. While I also like more sophisticated music too, I do like a bit of unabashed pop too.
6. Again, not my favourite. No way I can choose a favourite. But, a song that I somehow missed even though I did buy the album. Untitled No. 1. Is that a fretless bass or a keyboard?
7.
I hammer the crap out of Spotify, I search and search and find all sorts.
Ditto. Recommendations of artists who create sophisticated music with great songwriting always welcome.
8.
What!? What is this P bass for €27 madness!? I want in on this!! Is there a particular time of day these things come up? I've been looking for a cheap bass to begin learning and was starting to lean towards either the HB P Bass kit or the PB-20. I don't like black and was going to paint it either way. For €27 the decision would be made! Has anyone ever got a really crappy deko? Oh, and first post - I joined after seeing this thread. So, hi all!
At the moment they tend to be coming up about 10am-12pm, mostly around 11am. This changes quite often. There was a time when they were turning up at about 2am or so. It's a challenge to be around at the right time and notice that they've turned up. Good luck. @CustardFilled - what's the status of your active LP?
9. Orlando 3/4 SG bass. http://www.ebay.co.u...GAAAOSwuYVWoNJG The seller claims: "Orlando's were made by Lawsuit in Japan..." ?????? I've never seen a bass's provenance described like that.
10. Knowing a lot of people in the music departments of universities, I don't think anyone here and/or I know would fall into the 'sequence of steps = creativity' trap. Even if rules are taught, they are taught in the light of "Here are the rules. If you want to be truly creative you do so by breaking these rules rather than following them." Following things step by step can only be creative if there is significant flexibility in the steps. Which can happen. Effectively, that's what Brian Eno's oblique strategies are. And there's a very wide grey area between non-creative step following and utterly undirected pure creativity.
11.
You like her I don't, why do I have to explain? I not expecting you to explain why you like her.
I'm quite happy to explain why I like her if you or anyone wants to know. I think her first album has memorable well-structured melodies attached to interesting lyrics with something to say from her political point of view to make overall strong songs. The arrangements are mostly simple, but I quite like the singer-songwriter format, and she has a nice sounding voice. I'm just curious as to what it is about her music that you not only don't like, but find "bloody awful". If you don't want to say, then you're free to refuse. But, I don't think my question is unreasonable.
12.
That was all a bit hand wringing & worthy though, wasn't it? The fact that Tracy Chapman was on the bill was a deal breaker for me too, I think she's bloody awful.
I think her first album is very good. But I find her later albums a bit featureless. I can't understand what would make her bloody awful in someone's eyes/ears. Can you explain? I'd be interested in a Sting/PG tour. Not sure about paying £100 or more for the tickets. I'll probably wait for the Blu-Ray.
13. It certainly looks nice. How has the pickup swap affected the sound? I can't comment on how long it would stay around in the classifieds as I don't know what you were thinking of asking for it.
14. Not a song, but I've been listening to a lot of Bowie over the past few days. Black Tie White Noise is an album that I bought when it came out, but it sort of disappeared into my collection and didn't come out very often. I've played it a few times lately and it has very much grown in my estimation. It does have some outright pop on it and Wedding Song isn't the best starter, but IMHO as an album it works well as an album overall.
15. @CustardFilled - amazing that you've got a confirmation email for a Les Paul. I've never heard of it happening before. I think the reviews for the active LP are good. @ColdFlows - well, at least you got one. As you say, you've had a reasonable crack of the whip.
16. DEKOS INCLUDING BASSES MAIN SITE. P-Bass: http://www.thomann.d...d_seri_deko.htm J-Bass: http://www.thomann.d...d_seri_deko.htm "Available Immediately" - there may be a few. P90 GoldTop http://www.thomann.d...classicdeko.htm EDIT: Sold out. Some other Les Pauls, but may be gone now. This LP actually was an active one. Gone now. http://www.thomann.d...ressivedeko.htm Left Hand Les Paul-a-like still available! http://www.thomann.d...vintag_deko.htm EDIT: Gone @Irvined - good to hear you scored a Rosewood Jazz. However, the photos are not readable for the great unwashed masses. Can you change the privacy settings?
17. DEKOS EDIT: Page won't load, but I think it's just the telecaster back again.
18. I've rarely seen tribute acts but have enjoyed the few I've seen. (Always because I was seeing something else). I've always been tempted to go see the Bootleg Beatles or The Australian Pink Floyd Show. From comments further up, I might be tempted to see Rumours of Fleetwood Mac who are playing in Leicester this year. But, I can see the problem with the popularity of tribute acts. If there isn't enough support for young musicians to make their way playing original music, then it might wither and die. It seems a bit strange that there might be a limited number of name acts who can write and release their own acts, and then a live scene with too many acts who are just imitating the former. Pop will eat itself, indeed.
19. DEKO GUITARS MAIN SITE EDIT: Fast post before checking, nothing amazing. Some guitars. PRS style plus standard teles. https://www.thomann....and_basses.html One acoustic guitar with no photo and no photo on the new item site. ????? EDIT: PRS's gone. Teles still available.
20.
Please please tell me it's awful and that I should banish all thoughts of purchase immediately and irrevocably...
Erm, it apparently has the well known substandard Harley Benton pickguard material that looks cheap and where the pattern wears off.
21.
That jazz-uar thing created near-unbearable levels of insta-GAS in me. Think it's not helped to have been listening to Alexisonfire and Brand New a lot recently. I checked out some YouTube videos of it, and it absolutely sings!! Less than a ton brand new too. I'm in trouble...
I'd better not say what I read about it in the reviews then.
22.
PJ 4 HTR are up just now folks.
Odd, my program didn't tell me even though it was running and it knows about the HTR. While it's a guitar, this P90 equipped Jazzmaster-style guitar is an interesting thing to see pop up. http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_hb_ja_60sb_vintage_ser_deko.htm
