    What's the best time to give up soldering? asking for a friend.... 

    Ground hum, or no sound.. May have to rework some parts to fit properly in the smaller channel.

    Did a test run but it was getting abit unworldly.

      Turns out I had missed out one arm to pot solder.... call it wood for the trees.

       

      I've got to do a review on the charval as there is an obvious grounding issue but the wiring looks fine so I'm thinking this is linked to the poor shielding spray that is tripping it. 

       

      I may add an extra layer of body to jack for grounding as this is split from the bridge and body cavity to the glock pre-amp. 

       

      Last time I ever buy Fender. Sick of it now. 😒

    In a weird situation where I have £1k-£1.2k to spend on a new bass and I just can't find anything I want in that range 🙃

      I travelled around 300/400 miles to various locations in Scotland/York/Leeds/NE to try out gear that was either in stock else where, or unique to locations. 

      Took me 2 years to spend the money and I'm still not happy as the shielding/ground is still an issue (fking Charvel is doing my head in).  So I feel your pain. 

      I did think about making a Custom bass. - Lambo Orange Jazz, Roasted maple 12' Radius Neck with black hardware and Delano pickups + John East Pre-amp.  (I still do...)

      My list after a long time came down to: 


      And now I'm quite enjoying a Musicman SUB I picked up for £200 quid.... Swings and roundabouts!

    Sanity check - Musicman "sub" tuners, will any direct replacement be a fit for the string peg hole? I.E Wilkinson WJBL200 
    And where to get a black control plate from also......

      I "think" so but haven't sized them up.  Black control plate but dunno if fleabay ones are any good. Alot of money for plastic as I'm going passive.  :D It's a good headache

    It has only taken me X years to finally get round to switching out the two band Glockenklang pre in my MIJ Fender for a three band Glockenklang! It will, after many years, match its sister MIJ!

    I adore my Power Jazz Bass Specials!
