1. got it! I'm tying to step back a little at the mo as I've become real synical re ebay and this type of activity - it really gets to me! The real annoyance is the fact that ebay knows it happens but appear to let it go?? thats making money for you eh? except we, the good traders and honest buyers get hit for it all too often! For me an example of this was when bidding on a Yamaha Attitude: price - 99p no reserve got to £349 with an hour to go I bid £375 and was getting there...then all of a sudden - £500 22 mins to go £700 15 seconds £750 last seconds £810 bought buy a woman whos previous form had absolutely nothing to do with music.....so I followed up and found that the seller and the buyer had previous...and guess what...it came back on two days later - relisted due to buyer error! got real p*ssed off at that and from there it began - my quest for ebay honesty - but have ended up with nothing other than irritation
2.
There is merit in what you say, but as we get older we will also have an epiphany moment where we come to realise that we don't need 12 string basses with supercomuter standard effects. We simply need a simple honest tone, and then once you have seen the light, you reach for one of Leo's finest. It has happened to me, it's finally happening to my brother (what a relief) - He now plays an '84 Tokai Strat through an Orange valve amp, you don't need more.
had that moment 5/6 years ago! now only play passive 4 string basses! I have never taken my rig to a recording studio as any good quality bass should be able to get tone when inputed directly into a desk other than that, I completely believe that the tone is in your hands not from the instrument!
3. love the name lush, however, already know of a band with that name! what about 'lush of ages'?
4. see what you are saying and some very good points but, dont think the pbass has been 'vastly improved' I think perhaps the fact production values have changed allowing for operational refinement and enhancements has simply allowed the pbass to grow by natural progression/occurence and or evolve! The Yamaha Attitude for me, has taken the two pbass styles, fused them, refinded not redesigned the body shape, placed pups of an individual prefernce (I have always liked dimarzio pups since my very first ibanez blazer) and created a modern version of a classic but in keeping with the classic! I really cant see past my two for functionality and tonality - but I'm not a fan of jaco!
5.
Unless you are The Beatles making Sgt Peppers or The Beach Boys doing Pet Sounds.
too many bands made very little money in that particular era for that very reason............Rolling Stones ripped off by studios and agents alike!!
6. the ibanez blazer is superb....i miss mine sooo much, best pbass I have ever owned!!
7. great cabs! I have two of them......for your info: Sound Control have started doing them for £449 so bang on the starting price! they were £719 originally. free bump for a great cab andy
8. going off on one would have been a better use of words.........do it myself regularly...............................
9. theres also this one.... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/YAMAHA-BASS-GUITAR-B...1QQcmdZViewItem I have already spoken to the nice lady re the asking price and reckon that a bid of around £600 would secure it! I mailed to informed her that these sell brand new for £700.
10. Argh - 100% behind you on all of that ranting!!! A recording studio is not the place to be creative nor experimental, time is money! all your hard work as a band should be done and completed in the practice room and finalised in the studio! Wasted some amounts of money in studios because of creative experimental vocalists and guitarists! I see it every day in my place of work - young students coming in telling me of software and effects they use at home to make up demos...all shallow with no real depth...however thats why I do what I do......
11. well to take a positive out of this, particularly from my obsevations; this forum has a lot of decent, honest guys and gals attached to it as this thread shows how seriously we take our reputations when selling, be it here or ebay and of course, the integrity of the user base! R.I.P - sub bass.................................
12. oh well - that is it then.......?? leaving BC is a bit of a cop out as he should really post and explanation because it kinda makes it look, maybe half true half something else............. but his loss...
13. thanks for that! no link there then....?
14. Has there been any explanation from ZPQ re this? I am sh*t at geography and please correct me if I'm way off the plot here...but zpqproductions appears to be in hull and the original seller says its was in preston lancashire thus, by my dodgy geographical search (multimap) would make these places neighbours?
15.
Roger Patterson of Atheist Guy got killed by a drunk driver in about feb 91....one lp recorded and one written (Piece of time and Unquestionable presence) Genuinly one of the most versitile and tightest bassists within a genre that features too few bright stars (that beingDeath/Thrash metal). Easily more acomplished than say...Cliff Burton and tonally more upfront in the mix,but Cliff got 3 lps in before his passing,Patterson had only 1 and some demos. Cue up the intro to 'I deny' as the best example! great work.
any clips or vids link?
16. ok, ok I've tried to refrain and abstain but cant do it any longer! BILLY SHEEHAN...!!!
17. not jaded - just as paranoid as I am! methinks ebay will come crashing down sooner rather than later - already feel there has been a massive change in its approach and the class of trader it is now attracting??
18. point taken warwick! its just a little harder to spot the cheats that way!
19. BassBunny wrote: "Ultimately we all want the same thing. A forum with members who are honest and courteous to each other and wouldn't do what MIGHT have happened here." absolutely 100% agree - I take the integrity of my ebay account very seriously....users take the risk when listing at auction instead of buy it now and must, I repeat, must, take the hit if it all goes wrong for them... I lost nearly one hundred pounds from new on my first ebay sale, sick though I was; the buyer was extremely happy and left very positive feedback! my fault and have since learned from this and am still 100%..no private or hiding bidder identities on my sales! make me mad and I'm beginning to rant.... As well as this forum I am amember of an Edinburgh Derby forum (Hibs and Hearts) we are a tight board who socialise regularly and are completely 100% with each other and that in its self, for me is what being part of a community wide forum means; respect, honesty and downright straight up with other members.....
20. NOT FOND OF THE MIGHTYMITE PARTS, WARMOTH SEEM TO GET GOOD MARKS, - I'll stop shouting now! - all parts seem like mightymite too me!
21. great stuff here... Watching barnyard with my two year old....a song from it....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lfpqZaaM74
22. I want! where are you based? how much?
23. hope not! but after the trace vtype combo incident (vtypegate?) certainly looks like some of us may be a wee bit dishonest and worth keeping an eye on!
24. thats just too spooky.....cant make the link geographically (ebay community ID check)......unless ZPQ is the buyer and is now the seller?? too spooky - those scratches are just awesome!
