  1. In before the thumb lock!
  2. And in an attempt to get back on topic, measuring girth is another way you have to use your thumb carefully.
  3. Nah. When it comes to fishing weight is everything. "Never mind the quality, feel the girth" etc..
  4. OR... You could go fishing and the biggest bass landed wins. I reckon that would level the playing field.
  5. You mean you were on Garry at some point?!?
  6. Saw them at Glasgow last night. They were superb. RS is a funny guy as well..
  7. I really like them. I'd have one.
  8. Or the fact that it’s next to a (shock, horror!) Strat…. Now there’s ugly!
  9. I’d say it’s trying too hard.
  10. Stuff the bass!!! That stereo!!!!!! 😍
  11. It’s got a split coil in it which humbucks and also is a bit deeper than a standard single coil. I did think about a piezo bridge - but the pickup in it does such a good job that I left it passive
  12. I really wanted a thin line Fender Bass, but I thought all of Fender's offerings were just, well, a bit meh.. So I sourced some parts and did my own.. 51P Thinline Precision. It's not bad, actually, sound-wise
  13. I like it - and I know plenty of others who do - but I’ve had some say that they think it’s really ugly. 🤷‍♂️
  14. I’m pretty sure mine defies the laws of physics in some way or other. I swear it’s heavier every time I try to lift it
  15. Warwick Castle is portable compared to the Trace Elliot combo I have.
  16. And the other comment I get is that the light bits on the top look like scratches or marks and look ugly - it’s actually figuring in the African Blackwood and completely natural!
  17. Strange, as I love it - but I do get the opposite! Now that’s close to the sort of comment I get - that it looks unwieldy or difficult to get on with and a bit “odd” There might be in the fretless thread, but just for indulgence sake:
  18. Funnily enough, I get a 50/50 split of hate/love for my Shuker fretless. Some people seem to think it's the most incredibly beautiful bass they have ever seen, and yet others say it's truly hideous and an affront to their senses. Certainly seems some think it's ugly but others not at all...
  19. Indeed, very much guitar focused with some limited bass content.
  20. Yeah, I quite liked it as well. I guess there's weight issues with a Les Paul type of body unless it was chambered or something, but it did look pretty tho.
  21. Just got back after exhibiting at the guitar show in Brum after it made it’s return this year. Really good day out and I thought you’d like to see some selective bass highlights..
