  1. Some sanding later and wetting to show the colours as they would be with oil/finish applied… I think a few more coats of green..
  2. Plus, the Blue seems to do a good job of darkening the grain quite a bit anyway…
  3. No, I decided against it, as the black experiment showed a lot of contrast, and I preferred the straight blue then green..
  4. Well, I’ve now given it a sanding down to 1200 grit, and another coat of Blue. Its drying, and if I can get a half decent shot tonight then I will do
  5. To be fair I was surprised this thread wasn’t in the classifieds…
  6. First sanding down done - 120 grit wet and dry. Here it is damped to remove dust and check evenness…
  7. Also started the long and drawn out process of Danish Oil on the neck..
  8. Yeah, back looks a bit different - it’s cos it was done first and thus had dried more. Will post shots when it’s dried.
  9. Enough is enough. I can’t keep staining bits of offcut. So, here it is with the first coat of Phthalo Blue…
  10. I’m trying another blue/green as I am also leaning this way… maybe even with a black base sanded back then blue, and then a green highlight
  11. Yeah. I quite like that too. I’ve tried a few more since then as well. There’s lots of nice colour combos but I am thinking either Ph Blue/Black or Ph Blue/Green
  12. A few more for your consideration - these are under artificial light tho..
  13. Got me knobs out for some comparators. Have done a bunch of other colour combos (post sanding) which I’ll photo later..
  14. Just for completeness, here's the other colours as a single set with the same dilution in the sun:
  15. I’ve got a few that I want to try - bit open to suggestions now.. any colour combos or things you’d like me to try with the stains?
  16. Final one for today - Added Phthalo Blue to the sanded Black:
