  1. Tuner choice made. Had to decide on hole placement and size so the builder could drill.. so have gone with Hipshot Ultralites.
  2. Good job they shortened it to Jazz then....
  3. Their cream should match I reckon judging by that link.
  4. Well, the rather marvellous and wonderful @PaulThePlug had some spare knobs (fnarr!) and sent me a set free and gratis. Despite the amateurish photography they are in fact cream. This leads me to think that cream pickup covers and knobs, along with black bridge/tuners and a multiple colour stain (maybe even a burst) might be a good idea.
  5. Nah - he’s just run out of steam
  6. You really are going minimalist aren’t you? You’ll be back up in numbers soon enough
  7. You ought to consider the hollow body - adds to the sound and makes it ridiculously light weight And I meant a bass trade.. you can’t trade a bass for cake! I’d want to eat it, and keep it….
  8. You should def. try the super light gauge chromes - def. less tension than the regulars
  9. One day, if you came up with a suitable trade, I might just let you have it…
  10. I heard it helps to relieve tension. I don’t recommend it in the band setting though…
  11. I’ve moved to the super light gauge of Chromes and I’m finding the tension to be really in the sweet spot. I don’t think Chromes are really high tension tbh - higher than some, but not insane tho, certainly less than LaBella’s
  12. carefully…
  13. Combo 300!!! That’s the feller! Brilliant amps. Yeah, heavy tho. I have realised I prefer talking about gear as it’s a great way of avoiding conflict, or talking about conflict…
  14. Given the subject of this thread I don’t think “benefit of the doubt” is good advice. I’ve given a few guitarists the benefit of the doubt and musically it was a disaster!
  15. Are you sure you’re 56?
  16. IIRC they did an utterly cracking bass amp in the late 80s that looked like an oversize Bandit with a big 15” driver in it.
  17. Yep - specially if it was one with a Scorpion speaker in. Frank would love it too as it had a proper smorgasbord of connections round the back
  18. I must admit I've had better relationships with some amps than with some previous band members
  19. Oh man those green Carlsbro amps. Mate of mine had one and the grille on the front used to rattle but only when he played an A fretted as 5th fret on the E string. Open A? no rattle.
  20. Nice to see this lil thread of mine is still going Took the QSC over to a Jam last week and shoved the Helix Floor into it. There were at least 4 or 5 loud guitar amps to compete with, and it did a sterling job.
  21. I suspect there’s a very liberal dose of sentimentality in my viewpoint. Just like I will always have a soft spot for Peavey Bandits.
  22. I loved those old HH combos. No idea why…
  23. Very true. You wouldn’t find that sort of shocking spelling in the DoI….
  24. J-Tone gives you either volume/volume or volume/blend as a single stack, bass and treble as a stack and then a tone which works in active and passive. IMHO this is a more flexible arrangement if you think you’ll be using it in passive as much as active
  25. Passive mode - the j-tone passive mode is the same as VVT or VBT, whereas the J-Retro’s passive mode is a bit more limited.
