3. I bought some p bass knobs and bits from Neil. All nice and easy and fast delivery. He also chucked in some extra pots. Cheers Neil
4. Thanks that was usefull method.2days,3 complete rewires 3 dodgy volume pots later and finally i a have a working bass again, just in time for tonights rehearsal. Thanks again all
5. aaaaarrrrrgggh! I couldn't see anything wrong anywhere so I rewired the lot. It made no difference! I suspected the cap so I swapped that, and I've checked the pups have their usual resistance. This is doing my head in
6. ok thanks i'll have a look. Might the tone cap itself have failed? I did the wiring a year ago, it seems odd to me that it might now suddenly start shorting cheers
7. hi all My jazz has all of a sudden got very low output and the tone control has become an extra volume control. Any Ideas? I suspect a dodgy joint somewhere but I cant see anything obvious and I don't know my electronics enough to know where to look. Its been wired in the master volume, blend, tone configuration as in the pic Thanks
8.
Just a note on the original pickup if it helps....I have a Custom Shop '55 Precision with a stacked version of the pickup, sounds absolutely huge, especially with heavy flats. It knocked the stuffing out of my old 1966 Precision Bass so that went to the market...
that's good to know, cheers
9.
Not too sure on the sound, but this one popped up on ebay a few weeks back, and it looks amazing. Seemed to use an old gibson mudbucker, 30Kish output. MOre pics here http://trichards.co.uk/gallery.php?load=images/gallery/MudbuckerP/ Yeah i think i saw this. I thought it looked cool but seemed like bit of suspect recki job. The pups in the right place, i'd like to know how it sounds.
10. Yes DarkHeart I do mean like that. That looks lovely, good job! Although I think I'd personally prefer a covered pup but that's me. I see you have a standard head stock rather than the tele shape but still have the neck squared off at the body in true tele style. That must have been custom made right? Thanks for all the input everyone. I'd still like to get more idea of how the sound compares if I can cheers
11. well I'm thinking of building anyway. Hows the sound? does it compare to a p bass perhaps?
12. oh yeah, the cabronita. Is that a proper humbucker then the fidelitron?
13. I love the look of the 51 precision but Im not sure I'd be happy with that tiny single coil pup. I've seen some with the modern type split coil but why does no one put a proper humbucker in that position rather than the muddy mudbucker neck position?
14. I'm interested. is this still available?
15. Ask if you can bypass it and just have them keep an eye on it to see if you should turn down or not.
16. I'm thinking of doing the same. I thought i would trim the neck off square and then put a shim in if needed for intonation
17. I got my wizard repaired here www.oilcitypickups.co.uk in London (I think) Ash was very hepfull and I had it posted back to me in a couple of days
18. I've played a few weddings in different halls where the sound is usually terrible but theres been a huge silk type tent hung inside. It makes all the difference. I don't know if you could find something similar. Even if did part of the hall it would help
19. I bought a tech 21 sansamp vt bass pedal from Ben. It was well packaged, as described and sent In good time. cheers Ben!
20. I got me one of them, and love it! I use mine with just a laney 4x10 which is loud enough for pub gigs. If I had the money I'd look at a barefaced super 12 or super15 for some proper loudness! They're 4ohms but id assume that theres two 8ohm speakers wired in parallel. If they were wired in series they'd be 16ohms
21. He used a marshall vba when i saw him with wilco a couple years ago
