  1. There are probably more efficient heads out there today but I’m dubious as to their fixability or serviceability.
  2. There’s something about those MOSFET transistors at the back end that really moves air around the lower frequencies. I’ve owned 500w class D amps before ...but the AH500 is a different beast altogether.
  3. I use mine with a lightweight barefaced 2x10 and it sounds fantastic and it’s a nice tidy rig . I think it could blow the cabinet if I maxed out the head but I’ve never needed to go beyond 12 O’Clock
  4. I bought an AH500-7 about a year ago and, to be honest it’s a little bit overkill for my needs but it sounds fantastic, especially wity my sandberg . I’m a valve amp fanatic but this amp is a lovely contrast tonally. It’s heavy but not awkward to carry. I like the idea that’s a genuinely British made amp.
  5. It’s just loud enough for a small gig but a decent efficient cab is critical.
  6. Owned a little bastard about 5 years ago and stupidly sold it on. Big time sellers remorse .
  7. Its actually a reissue 'Evo' model from late 1990s (I think). British made though.
  8. I recently purchased a 50W Carsbro 50-Top guitar head for a bag of beans lately. Looks looks like a decent enough head but the power valves were knackered so I've sent it off for a r-re-valve and check up. I plan to just play around with it but I've no Idea what to expect through a bass cab, I plan on using a barefaced two10. I reckon it'll be sensitive enough to get a respectable level of volume with it. Just wondering if anyone else has tried paring a valve guitar head with a bass cab? What did it sound like? I'm expecting one hell of a dirty racket.
  9. I read up on the Eastwood bass and the dot markers are where they would be on a fretted bass (ie not on the fret lines ) this isn’t ideal at all. (Would be better off with no dot markers)
  10. Ha, my luthier phoned me today and told me my bass was ready !
  11. Hi Frank, Im in Ireland , but I saw this lovely bass online. I owned a fretless in the past and I miss it. I was looking for a shorty as I play in very small venues.https://eastwoodguitars.com/products/classic-4-fretless
  12. Hi All Has anyone ever played a short scale fretless? I imagine its a little less forgiving regarding intonation accuracy?
  13. I would , except I live in the sticks in Ireland and am far too lazy to go driving to a professional in Dublin 🤣. Anyway yer man is excellent but does things ‘in his own time’
  14. Addditionally .a valve amp shouldn’t take any longer than a week to revalve and check up....mine has been in the store for a month already 😩
  15. It’s an acoustic bass that needs either the preamp repaired or a new one installed. To be fair I said I wasn’t in a major panic ...but still, a message to say ‘it’s knackered’ wouldn’t hurt .
  16. How long do you think is long enough to leave your instrument/ amp with luthier or amp tech before enquiring as to the progress of the repairs ? Where I live, there are aren’t many people who do this as a full time job and are really doing this as a nixer, so I don’t really want to annoy these people...but at the same time it’s slightly frustrating when you hear nothing back for 2 months .
  17. I have recently acquired a carlsbro top 50w guitar head , I was thinking of using this as a ‘dirty’ head and using my Ashdown ctm 100 as a ‘clean’ head. Run them independently into separate cabs ...see what happens 😆😆😆
  18. Hi people thinking of trying to split the signal from my bass into 2 amps . What’s the best way to do this ?
  19. Really really like the look of the new fender jag player basses, I mean , I have better basses currently but they look really really cool. So glad they dropped all those silly switches and made a straight forward pj passive bass with them.
  20. This site is the worst for triggering my gas! Ive a particular weakness for valve amps
  21. I’m over in Ireland so I can see things getting cheaper and cheaper from the UK everyday . I hope they can sort something whereby we can avoid import taxes etc. I buy and sell 90% of my stuff from Brits because it’s a huge market.
  22. How much would it cost to post to ireland ?
  23. After much deliberating on a low wattage valve head a guitarist friend of mine asked me if I was interested in buying his British made Carslbro 50 top (for a song). So I've sent it off for a service and I just cant wait to hear what it sounds like. I'm not expecting a creamy low end clean sound but I'm hoping at least to have some fun with it.
