Who wants to pay as much for the castors as they did for the amp? Im not defending their products in anyways but they're made for filing cabinets and the like, I doubt they'd take the combined weight of newspaper to break.
Its about fitness for purpose. How often do filing cabinets get moved - are they pushad across car parks etc, or do you think people who put wheels on their gear only use them indoors?
2.
I am in the south east (bit of a problem re: Shuker basses but they look so good I would probably make the trek). Can anyone give me a steer on where to sample some of the beauties mentioned in the south east, Brighton and Eastbourne area especially (or places to avoid...) also where the custom shops are close to me, I know GB basses already but other than that I am guessing there are plenty around? Jazzbob
I cant imagine why anyone would trek up to Shukerland when they have GB on their doorstep - what you save in getting a cheaper bass you are gonna spend on petrol/diesel making the treks. Up to you I guess. Others I considered. Status in Colchester. Zoot in Witham. Sei in London. Guitar Junction in Worthing used to stock Overwater.
3.
This thread seems to be people telling the bloke what their basses are!
The OP was asking what to spend £1500 on. I've done that twice and both times ended up with a GB.
4. Sound Control are EBS dealers - although wether they have any on demo is something else. You should have gone to Bass Day.
5. Cant believe you had so much trouble shifting it - probably as good as those Shukers that make everyone all unnecessary.
6. Very nice indeed.
7. I would get a GB made for that money.
8. Never heard of them. But I do know that the funk is in the fingers.
9.
I remember back in the day when I worked in IKEA, they sold pretty heavy duty looking castor's. Individually IIRC, for a few quid each. Might be worth a shot if you are near one.
No No No. Get the proper stuff - theres probably loads on the interweb. Ikea ones will maybe last i gig.
10. Never had a problem with cabs and castors but some might say you lose a little coupling with the stage, that may be a good or bad thing. Only thing is on uneven stages make sure you have all four on the floor cos a dangleberry wont half rattle.
11. Dont know. The DDT warning light is a warning - not a target! Dont know who told you otherwise.
12.
Im with the other idea. Tell the sound guy you cant hear yourself and let them do the job they are paid to do. If the drum monitor is drowning you out tell them. Maybe get more bass in it so its coming at ya (like...well you know;-). Not disregarding any of the other ideas but monitors are there to help you hear yourself.
+1. When I went to see Silverfoxnik play the kick drum was just a tab to loud through the PA but it made the bass sound boomy FOH. Suggested the sound man take the kick down by a gnats chuff and bingo - sounded great.
13.
Yup - defo Eminence made to EBS spec although if you take it out the box, you'd need to rip the speaker apart to find any evidence of Eminence branding
Been there - done that
14. Report it to ebay but do they care - do they f***. The ebay police must be a very small team cos they have only ever managed to pick on you!
15. Eminence - like a lot of others. Made to a bespoke spec for EBS apparently.
16. Is that a Darkstar Lakland in your avatar?
17. 3xbasses in Hiscox (fretted, fretless and detuned - sometimes leave the fretless at home) 3U rack with amp 2x12 or 1x10+1x12 depending on venue Box of crap - leads, tuner, DI, earplugs, batteries, stings, SM58 etc Bass stand (2 or 3 gang Hercules) Mic stand Music stand Wedge monitor must cut down
18. I'll be looking out for all the cheap EBS gear being sold off by idiots who think if they get his gear they will have his sound.
19. Have you spoken to Bernie?
20. I took up bass after joining a band - I could already play guitar and banjo. I had more gigging experience that the rest of the band - playing banjo in a jazz band and I just know you are gonna be impressed with that.
21. Sounds like thermal cut out in operation, protecting the amp from overheating. Is there anything blocking the fan vents?
22. Peavey has always delivered good bang per buck

Must haves

The only must have effect is volume.
24. There are a lot of threads on here about different stings and quite a bit on the wiki as well. There might even be a link to some sound clips but I dont think it works now. Have a search and read the wiki. If you are still confused after doing that then the combined wisdom of basschat is sure to confuse you more.
25.
The EBS one or the sansamp?
The EBS one is quite a bit more but also a lot better according to those that have used both. I use the EBS one. It has both tube simulation and drive, plus a parametric mid. The BDDI just has drive and 3 band EQ IIRC.
