Which input are you using? Have you read the manual? The DI feed is post EQ and Drive so if you dial in lots of EQ that will affect the DI. Mine is one of the later ones with the pad but I did not use it and never had a problem, but I guess there could be problems with really hot basses or they would not have added the pad.

The EBS Microbass II has speaker simulation on the DI
We are getting side tracked here, but, Monz, in spite of the "technical" reasons why it can't be done... take it from me, you can easily mix 2x10, 4x10 and 1x15 cabs and get a great sound. It's been done a million times. Check out Talkbass as many guys over there successfully mix and match as well. Be guided by your ears.
My sentiments exactly - use your ears. What cant be done is to say this 2x10 will work with that 1x15 - its just too complex to make such statements. But it is wrong to assume any 1x15 with any 2x10/4x10 will sound better than 2 1x15 or 2 2x10/4x10.
(snip)Mixing drivers is unpredictable which is why I wouldn't recommend it but if you have the opportunity to test the different mixes to see which work well then I don't have a problem with this. Also the Status Vintage range. But if your heart is set on the Fender I guess its gonna be a long wait.

QUOTE (chris_b @ Aug 8 2008, 11:57 AM) ....but it has a better chance of sounding great. Several decades of bass playing experience with mixed cab setups and experiencing no problems at all; knowing and seeing other bass players using similar rigs and reading positive reports and reviews over time. 4x10 and 2x10 pairings with 1x15's are a very common and successful combination of bass cabs. You should be quantifying and qualifying your statement. Monz and other players starting out don't need vague scare stories. He could get hit by lightening or win the lottery; both more likely than getting a "could produce unpredictable results" situation out of modern bass cabs.
Just because a 1x15 with a 4x10 or 2x10 is common does not make it right, although I appreciate that lots of players like the results - but then lots of people like the Spice Girls and Take That. The 2x10 and 4x10 cabs are inherantly flawed because of the dispersion of horizontally aligned drivers and comb filtering but people obviously like the sound of that as well. Without wishing to speak for the OP, I presume he perferred the sound of the CMD151P to the CMD102P, so if he wants more of the same sound then adding a 151P will give him more of the same sound whilst adding a 210 or 410 would make it sound more like the CMD102P. And as I can use the quote function correctly I must be right

I think Clifton are in the west country as well.

More info would be good - dont assume that everybody knows all about them. Does it have a case? Are you prepared to ship? And yes - I guess you will have to drop the price. Its a buyers market at the moment.

I am pretty sure they will all deliver. Why would they not?

I can see that - but even later Gibbo's had a more adjustable bridge - I still cant see the point of such a crap idea thats gonna put of lots of potential buyers. That Green Label costs the same as my GB's!
I sit the Markbass 1x15 on top of an ashdown 1x15 so effectivley 500W through 2x15 Having said that I am just about to get a Markbass 4x10 to replace the ashdown 1x15
I would try the 151 extension cab first - putting the 151 together with a 4x10 could produce unpredictable results.
Oh that Thomann one looks like it's going to rip up your car seats ....
Not only that - I know from experience that style of case takes up much more room in your car/van whatever, but they also weigh a ton.

Both Ashdown and Ampeg aquired a really bad rep for reliability when assembly was moved to china.

What gives with the sh*tty bridge? Why?
-
No. The top half of your master is redundant because your amp is hitting the limiter; because the combination of input voltage + preamp and power amp have reached the threshold of the limiter. Yes you will get more watts out of the amp by adding another cab but the real gain is adding another cab usually increases the SPL by 3dB because you are moving more air. Adding another cab probably wont let you turn the master up but it will mean that it will be louder at that setting and you can probably reduce the master so the limiter threshold wont be hit. This is a different thing to setting the pre-amp gain to the appropriate level using the peak light. This is done to get the best signal to noise ratio. Some of this is explained on the basschat wiki.

According to the manual it wont do any harm. Position on the master is irrelevant but it does suggest you are giving it full beans. I tried the PB250 when they first became available and my whelm has never been so under. I lit up the clip light in the shop IIRC. So you either need another cab or a more efficient cab to get more volume. As the GK Neo 212 is 101dB you are gonna struggle to get a lot more efficient cab.

Status are capable of far more than slapping - The Ox never slapped! Best thing is to try as much as you can and if you are still not satisfied then maybe a custom would be best - there is a well known luthier in Yorkshire.
