The Producer's: Trevor Horn "Two Tribes" bassline
crez5150 replied to iconic's topic in General Discussion
Complete bollocks. Two Tribes existed as a song long before FGTH were involved with Trevor Horn and ZTT. There certainly was a version recorded with some of the Blockheads playing on it. How much of that ended up on the actual release probably only Trevor Horn and whoever did the Fairlight programming of Relax knows. The article I remember said that while the Blockheads were more accomplished musicians than Frankie, their version still didn't have the feel that Trevor Horn was after.
Very much this ^ -

My sideline of PA hire and Karaoke nights is doing very well..... Can't see the problem

Just a heads up on Digital wireless..... It probably won't affect a lot of people here but those that play in corporate environments such as hotels where they have an extensive wireless wi-fi network. Sometimes these do cause interfereence with these and I'm aware of at least a couple of events where the users have been asked to not use their Digital systems as it has taken out the hotels network.

She's also really spiderman..... -
Interesting.... I've never used a compressor in my live rig and I play a lot of slap. Touch of the Akai Intelliphase now and then though
-
I played guitar long before bass..... just put a new duo together with the keys player from the function band. We are doing laid back numbers for functions and weddings. Got 9 gigs in the diary to the end of the year and next year looks busy

If you are in the Mangotsfield area... EMIS is worth a look. A cavern of delights, especially if you are after some old synths ;o) http://www.emismusic.co.uk

Just noticed this if anyone is interested..... seems about £20 too much for me though ;o)

Had an interesting one... was depping for a band in New Malden at The Fountain. Turned up and there were 200 Korean 's watching the football. Nice people )

Surely there must be a beer gut stipulation for this gig.... I mean you'd have to play bare chested a fair bit -
AKG c414 is the daddy for multi use mics however, firstly they're very expensive when starting out (even second hand they're 500-700 each) and for those who a re really picky there's a glaring thign they don't do well at all: vocals! They're just too flat and neutral for a good vocal.
They do work extremely well on spoken word.....
-
If you can find a good condition second hand unit, an AKG C(LX) 414 is a great mic to have for home recording.... lots of uses and sound great on acoustic instruments too
and Thomann gives a 3-year warranty on everything they sell.
As long as the local music shop doesn't go out of business to look after the faulty products ;o)
-
But Thomann are essentially a box shifter, so there should be no reason for the packaging to have been opened and the bass handled for anything other than a QC inspection. They don't have to have stock on display like a shop. I would expect anything I bought from them to be in brand-new perfect and unmarked condition unless it was explicitly stated otherwise and carried an appropriate discount.
Depends.... they do have a store...
-
Why on Earth would that be? Seems rather odd!
Why do you think.... Thomann are a competitor.... If you were in their shoes and your customer had bought some kit from your competitor and then came to you when it went tits up because you're local.... how would you feel?
-
So who was the retailer that you took it too..... I visit on average 3-4 music retailers per day and I don't think I know one that would take in a repair that came from Thomann??

Wonder if they will do a promotional T-shirt like last time....
I doubt it. Joy Division ceased to be in May 1980.
Well New order then... Hooky and that other bloke... ;o) started arguing with each other on stage I seem to remember, quite funny
-
Each to their own and all that but I did have the misfortune of catching them at Glastonbury a few years back.... On the plus side it was another great excuse to visit the Cider Bus!

I'm enjoying this at the moment. It's Rumer with a cover of Sarah Smile by Hall and Oates - http://www.youtube.com/watch?annotation_id=annotation_5868&feature=iv&src_vid=1Eb4tlLbdaE&v=wh7y--Mc7kk
