5. As is with any Pa system.... It works for a specific task..... I wouldn't say they are crap but then again if you expect to get the same sort of volume and sound quality as you do from 15" drivers..... think again..... Ideally these are suited to those more acoustic type acts....

    Too quiet!
nope. It's a direct PC to Guitar. The SR1000 EFM is active.
Doesn't matter..... your still gonna need some sort of front end pre-amp..... or buy a small mixer with decent gain on the mic/line input... better still get a dedicated audio in/out device

    Too quiet!
Hello good people (yes, i stole that greeting!). I come with a problem, so here comes a chance to warm up those muscular brain tissues of yours. I'm playing an Ibanez SR1000 EFM jacked up to the PC and using Audacity to record with. The sound is definitely coming through because i can hear it! But the problem is that it's way too quiet. I've tried going into volume control and boosting the Line In, but that just makes it louder through the speakers, not the recording. Anybody know a solution? Cheers.
Are you not using any sort of pre-amp/channel strip?
  8.
Hi Guys. Im sure there is info on here about this but i wanted to get it all in one place if i can. We had three gigs this weekend at Holiday camps and the rooms were quite big with nice big stages. I was sure i would have enough power for these rooms but i was struggling to get any low end out of my UL212. In fact my sound at two fo the gigs was terrible. lots of mids but no low end out front. On stage the sound wasnt too bad. While i realise the stages were the problem i want to know whats the best solution for getting more low end out of my cab and in to the room. Would a Gamma pad help? I dont want to start using chairs or crates but im willing to use a pad or matt of some kind if this would help. We seem to be doing a lot of wooden stages now and while my UL115 was fine the UL212 seems to have a hard time producing the lows. Thanks for any suggestions.
S'funny..... I play on wooden staging all the time and do not have any problems with bottom end.... my setup is an eden metro combo..... sometimes use a 2 x 10 ext cab
  9.
My best mate Dan lives with his uncle Simon Lebon from Duran Duran and he told me an interesting Bernard Edwards story recently. John Taylor, from Duran, was using Bernards stingray to do some recording recently. the bass is all origional, the same strings and everything that Bernard used. They sound really dead and pretty nasty if the truth be known, but there is a vibe about them which John liked. He went out of the studio for a min and came back - the engineer had put some new strings on the bass because he was finding them dead and so on. John went mental and said 'Where are the origionals' - the engineer had CUT THEM OFF and discarded them. John went mental again.
It was also said that Bernie never changed strings...... I remember reading somewhere that when he was interviewed about his set-up.... the interviewer asked him what strings he used..... and Bernie replied ' whatever came fitted on the bass'...... Bernie is one of my all time bass hero's
  10.
+1, I've never had a problem and I've bought LOTS of stuff from abroad. And, at that price difference, I'd rather risk it a little, after all it's only gonna happen once every several purchases. I don't know how flexible they are on the prices at the Gallery, anyway it sure isn't good advertising for them to post prices that are +50% of other european stores. Maybe they list them so high so that, when they cut you say 10% you think you're getting a good deal, when you're still getting them much more expensive than you could. BTW, wood and tronics is a small store, when you order from bigger german stores they usually pick it up for free from your home if something's wrong in the first 30 days.
No wonder the industry in this country is on its knees......

  12. you could always cut the centre coil out of the speaker and see if its burnt...... but then the speaker would be useless anyway
  13.
Currently using deps for gigs but looking for permanent bass player who is available to gig Friday and/or Saturday nights. We perform rock and Indie covers mainly in pubs, social clubs but have done corporate events. Looking for someone who has own gear and transport, easily contactable, has a sense of humour, enjoys learning new material on a regular basis (every couple of months, so both us and the audience don't get bored). Oh, and must be able to play bass to a reasonable standard. Give us a call to arrange a meet for a chat and jam: Trev: 07966563887 For info, line up, music clips, current setlist and gig dates/venues, check out our website: www.redglory.net Or, www.myspace.com/redglory1
Where abouts are you guys based?
The current speakers are made by sica.
some of the early essex built cabs did..... but no the fully fledged production models..... some players wanted celestions so there were bulk purchases to get the pricing which may have led to them using the remainder of the product in those cabs...... production models did not though.

  17.
hmmm.. i couldnt answer that question, but the proximity of Celestion to Ashdown sites would probably make it a viable option for Ashdown to at least use an OEM from Celestion.
I can definitely tell you that they never did...
