  1. wow ... bellissima neck! great precision bass and wonderful work, thanks for sharing!
  2. 5 with straight strings off nuts ... you need a looonger head thou, no? not the usual 20+ cm?
  3. Agree with @LowB_FTW ... the design is really good ... I would not even think of trying to go down that road thou, because of my primary ape skills in carving!
  4. yep, that will be me the main work ... I already squared it today, I posted a pic before and after ... I am still waiting the body to come, it is a bit late, but hopefully will come soon!
  5. hey ... no need for that 🙂 ... everything on this thread is good juice! thanks a lot
  6. ... got it, thanks, I thought was about strings, but I was not sure , thanks
  7. wow ... this is what I call GREAT wood craft ... and the floor! mamma mia, better than my plywood! 🙂
  8. ... and attached the first result of the squaring of the neck heel ... thoughts?
  9. hehe, how much longer can you wait, sir? 🙂
  10. Yep, the head is angled back, not sure why some necks are like this? Is there any explanation or just for the strings? Anyway, all valid suggestions, I like the 2L+2R idea myself too! And the angled back tele also! 🙂
  11. Hello again gentlepeople ... Following the first attempt (here), on which many of you have sent loads of very useful for me hints, I am starting a second attempt to assemble a bass guitar with this thread. Telecaster body (coming soon, bought it, again, from a luthier in Italy). Pickup: Warman. (presented in the other thread, but not used) Neck: chinese made maple and rosewood: the main theme of this thread. Please have a look at the pictures below. Could you kindly weigh your ideas on what a nice and innovative neck head would be? I have the tools for carving it, does not mean I am gonna do a good job 🙂, but I would love to trigger you innovative ideas with this thread. Again I will have to square the bottom of the heel (see above quoted thread), and I will make use of the awesome hints I got. Would love your ideas on the following: - How to make a nice, good, and robust head neck? - Best technique to extend the V shape P51 pickup pocket to host the warman (link above) - Any other ideas I haven't though about to make the bass nicer. Sorry if I am asking loads of help, if it is too much and I am out of context, just let me know thanks 🙂 And, BTW, please do also let me know if you like my cheap 18mm plywood floor in the attic, thanks 🙂 !
  12. I find this better than a wikipedia page , thanks for sharing and very well done (even from me who has a lot to learn, but thanks!) 🙂
  13. It is a wonderful and very well kept bass, good luck!
  14. Hello !! Thanks a million for the Bravo! I appreciate the bumps! Thanks. Your suggestion made me think ... and yes it is a very "sexy" suggestion: I tried to keep the costs low, so I reused a lot of elements that I had in my small stock; more importantly there is a reason why the silver bridge instead of the brass one: again, sorry, OCD driven, but both the bridge and the head are the top and the bottom of the whole bass, so in my head, I have the same container color at the top and the bottom! Does this make sense? Anyways let me think. As I said your suggestion is super. I think I can spare 10 euros for a brass colored bridge to accompany with the silver coloured ! Thanks!!! 🙂
  15. yeah ... that is also a bug for me too ... I was trying tomhide it from my OCD, but it comes back ... I have a saw that I use for my wood work, that can cut metal too ... will try today to fix it according to the shape of the body ... In fairness, I left it like that as I thought would give a very old and rough touch to the body ... mmmh ... you made me think again! 🙂
  16. final pics here ... changes: - bridge: my OCD forced me to have bridge and pegs same color: but my OCD forced me also to have part of the bridge in brass as the control plate, so I installed the old bridge saddles in a new silver bridge. - Control knobs: I had these already so I thought to mount them intead of looking for new ones: they are silver colored as the rest of the main hardware. Thanks for looking and for all the advice, gentlepeople .
  17. wow ... awesome bass ... good luck with the sale!
  18. thanks man! what about the plywood? is it gorgeous too? ... haha ... sorry I am messing, I am not wise these days, apologies! Thanks for the support I will try to get some chicken head knobs and I'll send final pictures!
  19. you mean the 18mm plywood in the attic where I did not put any floor cause I spend all my money in basses, watches, drums, and other stuff?
  20. I thought about that, I wanna change the hardware to silver rather than black, as I wanna use the black pegs, knobs and bridge for the second project yeah they seem to be a good choice according to others here! 🙂 the paint was acrylic red from the luthier, and I sprayed it with some satin black paint, cause I wanted to give it a darker tone thanks. Knobs will be changed, with some basic silver based, thanks! 🙂
