But if the true origin of the genre, which I don't doubt, the BBC would be making a very shallow, program if they omitted that from the programme.

That said, I've not seen this program but many things like this make me feel guilt for being white.

Don't feel guilty about this for being white, instead concentrate on awful dancing and being slow sprinters.
I am mixed race (Scots and Caribbean) as I used to love the guaranteed sports day win, until someone who was fully black joined my school.
Only time I ever cursed one half of my heritage when I stopped winning.....

  2. Depends how loud you need to go and what kind of dispersion etc you need, but I play rock and the supertwin rules, my friend who is not a rock bassist but has a DG amp and a supertwin also raves about it for all the stimulant he does.

Best thing to do is to chat to the guys at BArefaced, they'll ask you lots of stuff about your set up, goals, sound, venues etc. Then give you an answer

  3. I had a long look at it, and also at whatever videos are out there.

Very close to pulling the trigger, by when I combine my Two Notes LeBass, Cali 76G and the engine in the M900 I am pretty close to a brutal sound of needs be.

I know it's a lot of hardware compared to one pedal, but the afore mentioned are not leaving the board (Cali practically needs a board of its own!)

  4. Agree with the points above.

I had a TC Electronic 250-115, nice and powerful at home, shook walls etc. Took it to a gig where there were drums and 2 guitars and it struggled. Admittedly it was louder than it should have been, but even so you have to get above the drums. If you are being Mic'd up or a DI I taken you'll be fine, if not go separates.

Having lugged it about to be fair it's prob more hassle than a lightweight class D amp and cab.

    Cheers

  5. As we have established, I am black and have looked into the whole contentious thing, and as far as I am concerned, it's probably a bit of both, live and let live, I don't mind keeping up traditions as it connects us to the past and helps us remember history. So long as the traditions are not actually harmful, and any particularly horrific historical times are respectfully remembered then it's OK by me.

So far as Morris dancing goes, they'll be nob 'eds, they'll be good people.
Let's all have an ale, mead or cider and enjoy it for what it is which is a crazy, camp, pagan quirky past time

  6. @Cato you will like this then.

I am black and was in a small town folk festival milling around, when I came across a group of fully blacked up Morris Dancers.
Their abject shock at seeing a 'real' black face was priceless, they did a double take, crossed the road and scuttled away quite sheepishly.

I was upset as in that area of little Britain I thought I would be the only 'coloured' in the village...... ;-)

    Still makes me laugh now

  7. @Wolverinebass I don't think you are having a go at a great product, just expressing what would work for you and that's cool.

I have the M900, would love to have the dUg amp (cost prohibitive at the moment) but I would disagree with what you said about the clean tone on both, I think the clean tone is really good and with the dUg amp there are very few situations where you would use the grit channel alone as it really rasps.
Surprisingly to my ears with the M900 I only like one of the drive channels having owned both the VMT and b7k pedals, sonic could not see myself switching the type of dirt mid song.

What I will say though (and I know you don't necessarily want more pedals!) is that in the next year Tech21 will release a dUg pre-amp pedal to satisfy those needs.
So if you had the M900, intelli foot switch whichever version, and the dug pre amp it's almost the same number of switches as a midi and quite a few useable tones there, imagine pairing the dirty dUg circuit with the EQ section of the clean DG amp, as well as the other possibilities could be a winner.
