  1. '66 P-Bass. Photos will tell you everything. I recently got back from recording an album for major label with his PBass through a B-15N. It has more punch and grit than early p-basses. I think more output too. New frets - identical size to originals, done with best luthier around here (it was almost worn to the fretboard when I got it). Will exchange for CS masterbuilt '57-'57 P-bass w/single coil (Man I miss that sound...)/ PM me for details. Very light, under 4kgs. I have chrome pickup cover too. Hard case... was somewhere around, but I don't remember where it is at the moment, I'm selling without it but If I find - I will of course include it with the bass.
  2. Now £950 w/FREE shipping
  3. I actually haven't heard a j-bazz from that year, but have '66 P and '67 Mustang Bass and both have "MORE" than e.g. '60 P or later mustang basses. Anyway I love my '60 P the same as '66 - they are just different!!!
  4. I have exact the same feeling about '66 pickups. They are just "more" - more gritty, more oomph, more signal, punk stuff!
  5. Hi there, its 110-120V. 95% of V4B's and V4can;'t be rewired to 220-240V. Needsexternal stepdown transpormer. They are cheap - like 30-50 pounds. (and sorry for a late reply)
  6. For sale: vintage Ampeg V4B 1971 (I bielieve first production year, made in Linden, NJ) , 120V NOS power tubes, NOS/new preamp tubes, recapped (old caps housing left for aesthetical reasons), cleaned, checked & played of course! Stage/studio ready to serve another years. 2/4/8 ohm switches and two outputs make this amp suitable for almost any cabinet(s) made out there. (e.g. single 2,4,8 ohm cabs and two 4 ohm cabs, two 8ohm cabs, two 16ohm cabs too) Also you can remove two power tubes to get even lower volume. Best-amp-ever. "Small brother" of SVT that puts about 120W RMS of pure raw bass tone, so if you want old SVT tone with less weight and manageable power, this amp will be your best friend. FREE expedited door-to-door shipping to European Union / UK (except Scandinavia countries - please ask about quote).
  7. is it the same bass as in the link below? why are you selling it so quickly?
  8. (not abvailable anymore)
  9. Thanks. I know that it was transitional year for spaghetti/modern logo, but neither of them had the additional writing on the headstock. So, the neck was also refinished and all the badges were added, the aftermarket ones?
  10. what's up with the "offset contour body" decal on the top of headstock? it was not used on precision basses...
  11. As I have found out, the "ramones" studio where Johnny recorded was somewhere in Brooklyn, NY.
  12. Most V4s would need a stepdown transformer as they can't be rewired quickly for 240 (only 2 primary wires from PT). The external transformers 240>120V are cheap like £40-50 new (for a 1000W version). V4 needs minimum 700W value, so 1000 is good too. It's also good choice not to modify because you will have original operating voltage and hertz + power stability and protection too. If you can't find that I Can find one for you.
  13. Selling my second Ampeg V4 head from 1973. (120V) Even better for bass than V4B because of 3-stepped gain, so you can play with nicer sound at lower volumes. Old(NOS) tubes on power amp - works great, new/nos tubes on preamp. Recently checked, biased and cleaned by my tech. 8/4/2 ohms out with two output jacks so you can use a lot of different cabs. If you pull two power tubes out, you'll have half power and even more cab flexibility (ohmage changes). £970 total - paypal costs at my side, shipping costs (courier expedited) to uk and mainland eu free of charge. Amp does not need any work but 3-prong power cable with a ground pin will be a good thing to this baby. If you have any questions please let me know
  14. It's a BEAUTY. Should be advertised as 1961, because it was joined together in 1961. This is 3rd month production of "pat. pend" numbers on the headstock logo. Those early black rosewood necks are just awesome. I have '60 P with slab board and just it KILLS everything else. Beautiful refin on this one!
  15. Head only - 1000 pounds w/shipping included. PayPal costs at your side.
  16. @El_Picchu cab has original speakers. They are probably CTS or Eminence around 30W each. I bet for 80\% they are CTS square magnets. I don't have a proper (inch) tool to unscrew them for the box so I dont know exactly. One of the speakers has very little tore in the cloth (even not visible on the photo...), but it''s completely fine and sounds great. Please note that I will not ship this cab (read description above for possiblities). Cab is £600 if I decide to split this set.
  17. these were great guitar amps too. ihavent played bass through them, but guitar - sweet Lord!
  18. Trades possible: worn natural Precision Basses from 60s, custom shop '56-style p-basses, Orange Matamp OR200 / OR100
  19. Downsizing my collection, part 2: (BETTER PICS IN FEW DAYS, SORRY!) 1974 Ampeg V4 100W head with reverb and matching V4 4x12" cab. VERY LOUD... Story: this set came from US studio where Ramones were recording in late 1970s and 1980s. Studio does not function anymore and guy who has sold me this amp bought from them a enormous mixing console (Studer, Neve? Don't remember well), some outboard and this Ampeg head and cab. He was told that this particular set was used for guitar on few Ramones recordings. I have no certificate to show you that's true and what were those recordings. Maybe there are some sites/photos to proove that. I don't know. Take it more as "interesting fact"... The amp came with pretty bad power tubes (old, emission less than 30%) so they went to trash after seeing my tech (risking a tube fail with burning components was too high). Amp has gone general cleaning outside/inside and "Death cap" removed. Still is wired for 120V with 2-prong cord and will need stepdown transformer to play on EU/UK voltages (750W minimum, 1000W recommended). It's original condition with 2-prong cord. It plays great, everything works, no problems, sounds awesome on bass and guitar. For that one I have bought a matched set of slightly used but tested good vintage Sylvania 7027As. I put them into amp and everything sounds great but you may check bias before serious playing (these are fixed bias amps, without a pot to adjust, so if you put a set inside it needs to be checked and resistor must be changed for correct value/voltage). Amp and cab takes well guitar and bass. I mean, it takes both GREAT. But beware of loud bass tones or bass-octave-fuzz --- cab is rated at 100W, head 100W+. You will be safer pulling 2 power tubes out, changing impredance switch to 4ohm (instead of 8) so you'll get 70W then. I did it on two shows when playing bass on this set (on that older tubes). Payment: bank transfer or PayPal (add 4,3%) I'm located in Poland. Shipping: too heavy, too big... Two ways to deliver: 1) My "backline" friend is going on tour in UK early March. He drives thru Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and north France, then from south UK to Liverpool (I think near London / Birmingham). Can bring it to his bus on that trip for I think less than £100 2) Find a delivery company which does EU flat/houses relocation services and it can be done also that way. Maybe similar price, maybe higher... If you want my tech to install bias pot, 3-prong cord or me to find you and buy you stepdown transformer, I can do that. PM me. There's no way to internally change it to 240V (like on SVTs) without modyfying transformer windings or replacing it to new one, so keeping it in oirignal state you musyt use stepdown transformer.
  20. Downsizing my collection: (Trades possible: worn natural Precision Basses from 60s, custom shop '56-style p-basses, Orange Matamp OR200 / OR100) Ampeg SVT "blueline era" from somewhere late 1970/early 1971. Made in Linden, NJ just before Magnavox takover. 300W tube, 6550 powered. Holy grail of bass amps. The story: I have got around 5 vintage SVT's from 1970s in the past 10 years. Two of them were sold here (and got some emails after If I have another one but after new basschat look, they all are gone and can't find that contacts, so If you asked about it, please PM me!) They all sounded great. I mean - if they are serviced and in good shape, they will sound the same. This one (as for today) is my last one that I kept. Very clean. It has something that no other vintage amp I owned had. It's completely quiet when it come off standby (and is in playing mode). Every other amp I've had or I have right now has a slight hum or noise - even modern tube amps does hum a bit. This one is DEAD QUIET. Also, the fan is quietest of them all (and yes, in SVTs they can be noisy, even when they were new). This one is after my techs: component checking, major inside/outside cleaning, lubricating switches. Perfrorms great. No switching noises, no potentiometer noises. Preamp/driver tubes test over 100% emission, power tubes test more than 95%, so it's all ready to rock another years for you. It's not "sold as is'/ It's a stage/studio ready to rock amp. Wired originally for US 120V. You will need a step down transformer with at least 1000W (1500 recommended). The amp will be left like that unless you want it for 240V - we can talk about it. Payment by bank transfer or PayPal (add 4,3% fee) Shipping in EU/UK (most mainland locations) by courier service is £100 (insured) For better protection I can order a flight case for you made specially for SVT dimensions (around £100) Also, my "backline" friend will be going to UK (Liverpool) in March so he can take that amp on the tour bus (£50 maybe? must ask) If you have any questions PM me or I can reply here. I'm located in Poland. If you're interested - on the other post I'm selling Ampeg V4 + 4x12 cab
