  1. Playing live is the end result and joy of all the pain of learning the instrument. The colossal amount of Queen's sovs i've invested ( and lost ) over the years also inspires me to keep on keeping on. Otherwise , why ? I've done the band route like most and have run the gamut of members feeble excuses for missing rehearsals... my kid has an ingrowing eyelash , the mrs has changed her ladies night , there's a vowel in the month, full moon, blah de blah. I've been in bands where the " the leader " was a tyrant and simply would not tolerate criticism, a lead guitarist who during a gig would play, without fail, at least one lead guitar part a semi-tone out. So predictable that we started calling him semi-tone. So, right now, i'm in the process of setting up a duo with backing tracks. It means more hard work, as i have to play all the recorded drum backing tracks, and double up on guitar for some stuff. But at least my partner in crime is a good bloke, has rehearsal space at his enormous gaff, recording equipment , plays the main guitar and does vocals. He also has a very understanding wife. Kids all grown and have foxtrot oscared out of the house. It's a good place to be
  2. Ah, Gaucho .. another stunner of an album. Becker is such a cracking musician. He's on bass duties here on Hey 19.
  3. I was transfixed watching this. Great TV ! spooky bit .. i know Leburn Maddox with the dreads, the acoustic player. I've met him a couple of times. He even played at mrs bag's birthday party with Spy Austin and Sam Kelly, as mrs bag and Leburn are good pals
  4. I don't think about it. I just play it.
  5. Ah, ok I thought all the SRH 500 models were the same, just fretted or fretless
  6. Man those drums - Gadd is awesome
  7. I have the fretless SRH500f and it's lighter than my bedroom slippers. My scales are industrial packing scales, so pretty accurate. I weighed the bass, and realised i'd left the rather hefty 4 inch leather strap on, so weighed the strap separately. Bass with strap - 3.1 kg Strap - 0.35 kg So the bass actually weighs 2.75 kg ...or in old money, 6.05 Lbs
  8. Indeed, they're awesome bits of kit. The stand alone CD player is pricey, which i never bought
