Had my 'growth talk' at work yesterday. A sort of career progression thing that must be really handy for the younger engineers especially.
Boss's first question (admittedly with his tongue firmly in his cheek): "So Rich, where do you see yourself in 5 years..?"
Me: "Retired."
Boss: "Want to expand your skillset? Anything you'd like to do in the meantime?"
Me: "Exactly what I'm doing now will suit me fine, ta."
End of talk.

Happy Rush Day (21/12)!

Rush The Big Money... What a bassline! I already knew that obviously bus just had another play thru. Still needs some polishing but sounding better than last time a few months ago.
-
Currently learning more Rush as well as working on improving my slap technique (obviously unrelated)

Best news I've heard all year.

14 hours until touchdown in a sensible temperature. Every day 30°C+ is far too much for a pasty Scotsman

Had a bit of an eye-opener on a bass-oriented Farcebook group this morning. My god, there are some selfish c**ts in this world.

No, you are not being selfish or indeed wrong, but you appear to have committed the cardinal sin of showing empathy towards a marginalised group and are therefore destroying EVERYONE ELSE's personal freedoms, ruining their fun etc. It's the same with pointing out that Fireworks are a bit overdone these days outside organised events, or that you don't agree that there are too many woke adverts about these days or anything that requires some people to give up a tiny bit of something to improve the experience of a much larger group.
If I were a magical deity, like Q perhaps, I'd happily gather these fools at a gig and then subject them to weapons-grade intensity strobe lighting, whack the PA volume up to 12 and see how they get on. Nobs.

In the middle of a house move & seriously underestimated how much bass stuff I've accumulated 😂

Folks, please if you will keep your fingers crossed for my sister in law today... currently under the brain surgeon's knife to remove a tumour. 🤞🏼

Wow, I just received a message on IG from Schecter that I have won a bass. 😊

NSBD (New Skirting Board Day). 6 lengths delivered, and I've just realised quite how long 4.4 metres is...

Here's a bit of a mystery for the bass connoisseurs out there: from this image, can anybody figure out the brand of this bass? A colleague is trying to find the answer and I've been struggling! Initially thought it could be a Schecter of some description, but that doesn't appear to be right. A long shot, I know, but thought I'd ask on the off-chance. Thanks

Please keep your fingers crossed for my cat. Having ultrasound on a big lump.

"It's ok, because what happens you see is people who have totally worked very hard to earn their fortunes will take this tax cut and invest it, and then the wealth and jobs will trickle down to those of you who just need to work a little harder, mkay? We're all in this together, very much directionally and united. No, you can't leave the union."

Bass players wife ..... Also bass players daughter ..... I only own one bass personally 😂 This is not a riddle, just a fact and a small miracle 😘
-
Has finally found what I've been looking for!! Full rig...completed.
-
Well, that's a first for me: being offered money NOT to play a gig!
-
How did I never hear of this great forum? I only joined this morning and I'm in the process of buying a bass I've been after for yonks. Result.

There's a first. We walked away from a gig without playing a note as the pub thought we had too many amps (we are a 5 piece) and our amps looked "too loud". We hadn't even plugged in or fully set up. When they asked us to lose a band member or play after 10pm when their restaurant was closed, we packed our gear and left. Lord Raglan in Wokingham, for the record. My advice: never accept a gig there
