Ashdown replied to me stating it sounds like a dodgy transformer so you guys were right on the money! any idea what i would be looking at cost wise to repair?
I really wouldn't know sorry, your best bet is to ask Ashdown again though they probably won't be able to quote you without knowing the exact problem.
2. Looks nicely worn in How much is the seller asking? (if you don't mind me asking)
3. Amazing service and products from OBBM.
4. Computers are a pain in the arse and rarely do what you want/expect them to do.
5. I had a similar problem with a MAG head years ago which turned out the be the power transformer. A job for Ashdown I think.

I can't use lead solder the smell makes me feel very sick, modding american pedals is horrible I thought the sale of it was banned in the EU?
7. Could be a power supply problem, but just to clarify are you replacing the fuse underneath where the power cable connects into the amp? If so are you using the correct time-delay fuse?
8.
I'm thinking of replacing the sliding controls with rotary ones. You are right about the upper mid and mid ranges. I can't think of what to call those yet! Cheers
"Clank" and "fizz" for the upper mids/treble
9. I missed this by about 2 minutes, turns out it saved me a load of hassle  I would seriously keep pushing for it mate...
10. I would go with a heavy set of 4 strings maybe a 110 max, most of the QOTSA tone comes from massive downtuning and the rest from a valve amp cranked to 11.
11. I just tune down my 100 80 65 45s which are then fairly loose, but then again I like the sound it gives. I wouldn't go above 110 tuning to D.
12. This can do the P sound, but not the signature MM because the pickup is really close to the bridge. I stuck it there to get a nice tight mid sound which works well I think the typical MM position is almost right up against the P pickup. On your example, extending the jazz route towards the P position you should get pretty close.
13. I can't fit my amp on the cab if it's stood sideways, though it's loud either way

15. "The guitar comes with three strings as the fourth string is optionally used" Where can I buy a set of 3 strings then?
16. Rock/indie at a country and western gig... I hate country and western and they hated us.
17. Basically pick some sort of paint which is very easy to apply and glossy enough to match the laquer +1 on trying all three options on a scrap piece of wood first and see which matches best.
18. Obviously it won't look perfect again but black car touch-up paint in lots of thin layers will do a decent job.
19.
Don't think Bill has said or implied that in any of his posts
Post #11, "And that's why you should not consider designing your own cab ..." comes pretty close
20.
That's easy advise to give when it's the OPs time, and money, that's being wagered on the result.
Then why not give some constructive advice instead of taking the usual "no-one else can make loudspeakers" stance?
21. My ABM runs fine with no load, just set the output volume to zero. The DI level is controlled by the input volume and EQ IIRC
22.
I had a feeling something wasn't quite right. The window display's been run down in the last week, and the guitar repairs have been advertising that they're moving to Johnny Roadhouse. Shame to see another one go...
God help us all, the shop that thought a valid solution for fret buzz on the low frets of every string was to raise all the bridge saddles to the max
23. The worst venue I've played was the Buffs in runcorn old town, sorry about the toilet door guys
24.
If i was back at home I'd happily try n get along. ! thursday night, you could go out to Rosie's, it's student night (note: I am most definately being sarcastic, i've managed to avoid that place so far so can't speak from personal experience but one highlight is apparently the sticky floors... yum) [by the way, Rosie's or RBs, is a club in chester. On of the two, yes Chester has a whole two clubs]
Rosies  Last time we were in there my mate got chinned by some scally for "jumping the queue" for the mechanical bull
