  1. Hi Mate Speculative, but is this still available? Thanks
  2. Hi All The Ashdown bug is biting hard and I really want one of these! Anyone got one who can share some insights to tone/power etc? Thanks
  3. Photos below. Small but annoying!
  4. Thanks so far chaps. I’ll have a go at some photos in daylight tomorrow. They really are quite small...but still annoying. yes, soft case with annoyingly hard handle that when packed in vans etc, seems to press through the foam. For a while I thought it was my kids bashing them accidentally! Feel terrible for all the poignant questions...
  5. Hi All, After a bit of advice. Rather annoyingly i have noticed that the soft case I have has a design flaw that has meant that both by basses now have some very small crescent shaped dings on the necks! They really are small but you can definitely notice them on on your fingers when playing. Now I know I should just get on with it and play but as I really liked the played in smoothness of both necks, I find the sensation of the dings distracting. If I were to rub them down; a)what finish would be the best to get that kind of ultra smooth played in silky feel and b) what would be the best way to go about this process? Thanks!
  6. Ooer, size isn't everything so i'm told In truth, the panoramic photo makes it look larger then it actually is.
  7. Check out strings direct, they sell singles of D'addario pro steels. So you can choose your required gauges for each string. That's what I ended up doing. Slightly more pricey but less than Hi Beams. Also Newtone lets you order custom gauges.
  8. Tunings for my band vary from standard E right down to Drop C and even down to B on one song. I use two basses and have found that the main "floppiness" happens on the lowest string. So I have started using D'addario custom gauges (roundwound stainless). I tend to use 105 - 80 - 60 - 40 on standard E and Drop D tunings On my other bass I go with 110- 85 -65 - 45 which does me for all D standard, Drop C and down to B on the top string. When down to B there is an element of flopiness but its manageable. I really ought to get a Fiver!
  9. Thanks for all the responses. I thought that sensitivity may have something to do with the minimum power required to start moving the speaker! anyway, live and learn... So, say for example a cab is advertised as follows: Frequency Response: 35Hz - 17kHz -3dB -10dB LF Response: 25Hz Which one is the claimed sensitivity?
  10. Hi All, There is a lot of talk about how sensitive a bass cab is. What exactly does this mean and how is it measured? Apologies if this has been covered before or if its a daft question! Thanks
  11. No experience with the heads but I run 4 Hydrive 112 cabs in various guises. I have 2 of the older ones (silver grill) and 2 of the newer HD ones (Black Grill). The tolex on first run of these was bad but was subsequently fixed on later runs. Tolex on all 4 of mine is sound. I have run all kinds of heads through them and rate them quite highly. Only gripe is the single side handle for lifting!
  12. Yeah, it sure if I would actually gig it too as I have bigger amps for that. But it perfect for home and recording. Effects loop is quite nice too. Really even volume and uncoloured. Really impressed with the whole package. Thanks again for the advice chaps!
  13. Hi Reggae, nope just the actual positioning of the EQ. Goes Mid, Bass then Treble rather then the normal Bass, Mid then treble. Far as I can tell they are still boosting the right frequencies. I reckon I could gig it if I run it through 2 Hydrives...may be a bit gritty but ok for rock type stuff. The amp itself is beautiful though....lovely tweedy niceness!
  14. So got it...nice little thing. Been in touch with Mark over at Ashdown for some info as it’s got a quirk in that the Bass and Mid EQ knob are flipped in position. I reckon it may be an early prototype or something...we’ll see!
  15. There is a wealth of info on this very forum about this. Also, some much more knowledgeable folk who can help. Search IEM and it will pop up. The only thing I can say is, don’t be intimidated...it’s really quite simple, but oh so worth it.
  16. Get IEM, you will never look back. Ear plugs/defenders are so old tech.
  17. Just pushed the button on it, comments here convinced me! cheers all
  18. Very nice. Out of curiosity, the one I’m looking at is the tweed version (only because it’s the only one I can find available at the moment). But anyway, I thought they were all handmade in the UK. The one I’m looking at appears to made in China. Not that that’s a major issue for me, but it seems odd that an amp marketed as made and hand wired in England has a version apparently made abroad?
  19. Cool! So not much clean headroom then?
  20. Continuing with the current Ashdown love on here. I’m thinking about getting a small valve amp for home use. Anybody have much experience with the CTM 30 or CTM 30 tweed?
