On stage at loud level, yes. In a studio environment at low to normal level, it's just impossible to use as it's way too noisy, but, that said, it's a really simple and good sounding amp, for sure. Can't you hear the massive air flow ? That said, it's a major problem with almost all fan cooled amps, except the AER and Glockenklang amps, which have dead quiet fan air cooling.

Basic question that might seem stupid : Did you put the switch to the bridge position ? And yes, it's a standard Speakon speaker cable. I had one for a day and send it back as I could not stand those hugely noisy fans, it was like having a wind turbine nearby !

Rotosound have brass balls and straight silk following the wrapping especially on ball end and are more blue than turquoise : Alembic have chrome balls and more thick silk and really turquoise : So definitely Alembic CX-3 as shown on the two above photos taken right now with a correct colour balance. These are nickel strings with pressure wound technology that makes them feel softer to the touch and pliant as you said @MoJo. They also have a tendency to rust very quickly without affecting the tone, which is quite balanced : really good strings.

I would go for 2.5 mm pilot holes.

As only the two pivot point screws are important, it won't do any harm to the neck.

On electrostatic speakers, it does affect the tone. And it does a lot.

To remove dust from not that easy to access places or delicate areas, I use a soft brush. You can also remove dust from remote controls with this old trick thing.

Their names were Seymour Duncan APB-1 and AJB-1. The twin Jazz Bass set was called AJJ-1 and the PJ set was called APJ-1. Here is an AJJ-1 set : IIRC Randy Coven was endorsing these pickups way back in the late 80's, early 90's.

I had a few Delta Metal fretless Vigier. Fantastic basses, but taking a lot of room in a band, beware @itu... Your guitarist(s) will hate you. That said, my Le Fay Remington Steele 6 is a dream to play, if you like metal fingerboards.

Urm, you don't need to stop, you can make adjustments "while" playing. I really don't see the point here, unless you're playing these kinds of music without any breathing between the notes... then nobody will ever hear any difference in the sound anyway.
