1. Bigmouth strikes again by The Smiths and It's My Life by Talk Talk.
2. A lot of this is well beyond me transcribing wise. At the moment I'm figuring out Talk Talk It's My Life and Duran Duran's Save A Prayer all by ear and then tabbed into guitar pro.
3. Try www.ultimate-guitar.com. You will need to download powertab or guitar pro first.
4. I wonder if it's anyone on here who's put a bid. I spotted this just now. I don't know what prices vintage Precisions fetch but this one is a year older and looks like it has been in a few abusive relationships. I also noticed there is no 'L' in the serial number. I don't know the significance of this. 5. I don't know. i suppose it's in the public domain and if it's being used for teaching purposes who can object?
6. Battered body but a mint looking headstock with perfect decal. Mmm slightly fishy methinks.
7. Came across this recently. Not sure about the science behind it but maybe the humble pentatonic scale is part of our human psyche. Okay I'm starting to whaffle. http://vimeo.com/5732745 Entertaining anyway.
8. I was in Cadishead less than an hour ago. Tis a small world indeed.
9.
Thanks all, Wheres Monton? The weekend is nearly here and I think I will get the bass out, give it a clean, look at it longingly with puppy dog eyes and put it back in its case, safe and sound, while a tend to the next poop nappy. Is it wrong that I feel a sense of achievement when I change a nappy, has my life really degraded that much? Hmm
Er... just down the road from me in Boothstown. Welcome.
10.
A long and intimate experience of Rock Stars' brides and partners suggests to me that she will be a maiden of pulchritudinous aspect and bountiful charms. She will not be a "munter". By strange coincidence, this thread occurs not long after an event that took place during my recent diplomatic trip to Seattle. I was attending a reception at the home of my good friend Mr Bill Gates where, on observing my entrance, a certain lady was heard to remark: " I do declare! Who is that long, handsome cove? A sporting Gentleman with a prodigious manhood, I'll be bound!" Being informed of this, I promptly introduced myself and led her to the buffet, where, clearing a space amid the crab claws, we gave ourselves to pleasurable abandon. Matters being satisfactorily completed, I recognised the crestfallen fellow watching us from the doorway as being Mr Flea's bandmate John Frusciante. "Why Mr Frusciante," I cried. "I expect you will soon be departing, for I have indeed most thoroughly packed your baggage!" How we both laughed as he scampered from the room, tail between his legs. Should Mrs Flea and I ever chance to meet, the sensible money would be on a similar outcome.
Bloody hell I was starting to get aroused reading that unadulterated filth. What happens next? Tell me. Tell me. Tell me!!!!!
11. While randomly looking for some Jamiroquai covers I came across this cover of Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights and was captivated. Lovely playing, tone and guitar. I can't stop watching this as I don't think I've ever seen anyone cover this before. Enjoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkTYSVK9Uxw
12. I'm not sure if this has been done before but it's a useful little tool. http://www.metronomeonline.com/
13. I don't know of any free ones however If you get Apple Quicktime Pro which I think costs £20 or so it will do it for you. I know it's not free but I've used and it works okay and unless someone can come up with a free alternative to might be worth a look.
14. Something like that in crack converters???? Methinks the owner may like it back at some point.
15. Hi sshorepunk, As I'm only a couple of miles from you in Monton whereabouts are you playing? Might check you out if I'm not working.
16. It's a one piece maple neck with the rosewood skunk stripe. The frets are a tad narrower than my US standard and are more akin to the 52 reissue. It's a nice C-shape neck and to be honest doesn't feel at all different to a current Tele. It doesn't have the rolled edges of the current US models but feels goods anyway. I've never posted photos so I'll now try to figure that out. It doesn't have a lacquered finish so I figure it's satin. If you look at the Mighty Mite website it is model MM2905.
17. I bought this 6 months or so ago for a project that never got off the ground. It's a very well made maple neck Tele replica in excellent condition. I've kept it wrapped up in it's original box since I bought it. I can post pictures if really necessary however I'm sure you know what it looks like. It was imported from the US so I had to pay the duty on however it would be unfair to expect to pass that cost on so I'm asking £65 including postage within the UK. I will happily post outside the UK but would need to find out how much it would cost. I've compared it to my US Telecaster neck and everything is spot on. Mighty Mite necks and bodies are currently made in Korea and I believe production will shortly be moving to the US so prices are likely to increase. My neck is from the Korean factory. I'll post this here for a week to see if there is any interest, failing that it'll be going on EvilBay. I know this is a bass forum but some of us do occasionally dabble with the Dark Side just to see what it's like. Photos a couple of posts down. Sleeping cat is not included in the sale.
18. Mmm. Drove through Ormskirk on Saturday. Greetings from a little further down the East Lancs.
19. I was at a guitar shop in Bolton recently with my wife and they had a couple of Road Worn guitars on the wall for £800+. She sneered at them at said "800 quid and it looks like sh*te! Why on earth would anyone want to buy that?" I didn't have an answer. But then again she plays the flute.
20.
Gordon Smith, (but they don't build Basses any more). Ged Green does his own range of Basses/Guitars as well as repairs.
I was in Ged Green's workshop a few months ago and he was building a beautiful red Jazz-type bass with a very unusual bridge/string arrangement which reminded me of the non trem Godin guitars. There is probably a luthers term for it. Very impressive work. Did it go to anyone on here?
21. No, that was an Austin Powers stylee fembot. Glad it's been sorted out.
22. Just received a PM from the aforementioned 'member' to a query I never made. It is something along the lines of promoting a website and buy this software etc..., the usual crap that fills up inboxes. Checked their profile no posts, nothing. Who are they and do the moderators need to delete their account just in case it's some kind of malware, hacker thing?
23. So Julianne Regan's a bass guitarist eh? Last time I saw her she was sporting a strat and before that a Ricky 360. In fact I've seen her live maybe a dozen times and she's never played bass. I still get all gooey when I remember her smiling at me last time I saw her. Phoar.
24. That was really interesting and very hands on. It shows how the Japanese have a knack of taking Western designs and basically just doing things better. I'm sure a lot of our own custom builders take as much care but as to whether the likes of Fender etc do I don't know.
