1.
It's unfortunate that this seems to be a thing, but a thing it appears to be. I've been suspicious of it for some time now. I've even fallen victim to it once. One of the comments has been that if you're nice to sound guys then they're nice to you but unfortunately this hasn't always been the case for me. I arrived at a summer festival gig where we were supporting another band. I went to the sound desk straight away, introduced myself, spent time talking to them both and asked how THEY wanted to do things. We set out a plan of attack but I gave them the lead and I was polite at all times. We set up and did a very long sound check, fine-tuned everything and it was sounding perfect, I was delighted with the sound and they were really helpful and took time to pay attention to the details. We started the show, and they'd changed everything! It was muddy, could hardly hear the vocals, the kick drum was non-existent, and it had previously been perfect. I was asking for things to be tweaked between songs over the mic, the sound guys wouldn't make eye contact with me just kept giving the thumbs up, but no noticeable difference was made to the sound while we were playing. The main act came on and guess what? Absolutely pristine sound. I went straight to the sound desk to ask what had happened, and their reply was 'welcome to the music industry.' After I had been dragged away by the rest of the band and calmed down, I ended up feeling really disappointed that there were people who would deliberately sabotage a live performance because we weren't the 'main band.' I was polite, friendly and helpful to them from the word go but they screwed our set up regardless without batting an eyelid. Not only is this unfair on the support band and the audience, but surely this is unprofessional in the extreme?
Have a look at post #2:
We supported a 2Tone band recently and when chatting to the sound guy he apologised in advance, as the headline band stipulated no PA subs till they came on
I'd suggest there's a fairly good chance it wasn't the sound guys fault - he could well have been under instruction from the headliners or someone else to have a poor mix for the support band(s)..gutting either way, but there's plenty of evidence, even just in this thread, to show that it does happen.
 2. Isn't this the same model from this thread? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/296386-preparing-for-battle/ Still a bargain at £550 in the condition you describe! Well done!
 3. Yeah - it's ineresting to see how the site came to be! I think I found the site when looking for advice on new cabs. I'd been using the same Bass and Amp setup for the previous 9 years. That didn't last long!
 4.
It still seems to be up at that price. http://www.dv247.com...al-flat--216521
In that case, having had communication about the price, I find it difficult to have sympathy with the shop, but the OP's gone quiet on this?
 5. I have the BH250, I use it with a Barefaced 210 on gigs where we can't fit the full PA in so just go vocals only PA + backline. The BH amps are excellent value and plenty loud enough. Toneprint feature is excellent, I just have it set on the regular spectracomp and dial it up to between 11 and 1 depending on which Bass I'm using. Great stuff! The baked in tone of the BH is spot on for my money - only ever adjust the knobs between 11 and 1 on those too. Good purchase!
 6. Bit of a looker this one - nice routing job for the bigger bridge Pup too. Have a bump.
 7.
gorgeous bass, HNBD ! if you wanted to post more pics, including close ups, it wouldn't be a bad thing , just sayin hehe
Thanks, I'm really happy with it, the pics do enlarge if you click on them, not extreme close ups mind you!
 8. Cheers Marc, interesting that the Flea's neck profile is different, I guess it's modelled on his actual Bass neck. Kind of glad really then, as my hand seems to prefer a chunkier neck (as chunky as a jazz can be, I suppose)....Good score on the old dimarzios! gotta love the cream! Yeah I'm with you on having too many Basses, with this one added, it makes 8 now. Probably not many by some folks standards, but to put it in perspective, this time last year, I didn't have any Jazz basses, now I have 4. Seems a bit silly.....but you're right, which one do you sell?!?!
I have a 3TSB RW Jazz and the Flea sig and love them both, i now use the Flea all the time as it has rounds on and suits the band better but the 3TSB RW Jazz is my favourite bass. It genuinely feels like a vintage instrument. If and when they do a RW 60's P I'll have one
Interestingly mine had flats on it when I got it, not sure which make but they had black silk on the ball end and red on the peg end. Thought about leaving them on, but I'm really used to the lower tension of the Dunlop Superbrights I've been using and with those on (and setting it up to my own personal tastes) the Bass jumped to life in my hands...Very happy man indeed..
 9.
A sunburst Roadworn Jazz Unfortunately I'm only in a position to trade at the moment and the last couple that have come up have been sale only / non-receptive to my offer. sigh.......

If i didn't have one this would be top of my wish list. I love mine, it really does feel old (I have had early 60's Fenders so can compare). Good luck with the hunt. I'm now gassing for a 90's 'ray and a Modulus Flea It'll be something else next week though
He's only gone and done it! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/296517-nbd-fender-rw-jazz/ I should be GAS free for a while now.......
 10. No problem to gig with one of those where you don't want to take your more expensive gear. Do be warned though - Getting your first Yammy can be a slippery slope! When you realise how good their lower end stuff is, you'll soon be tempted to try some of their more expensive stuff. Then you've had it.
 11. Cheers Marc, yeah I agree they are awesome. I've had the P for a while now and I've been so impressed with it, it was a no-brainer on the Jazz really, just a matter of waiting for the right one to show up, IMHO they're way too pricey to buy new at the moment. Nice catch, the Flea was on my radar too as a possible alternative if the deal didn't work out, how does it compare with the regular Roadworn Jazz? Much the same?
 12.
I normally would be the disco was planned to carry on for a hour after us!
Ah, so by the time you were all packed down, this coincided with the taxi queue! Marvellous.
 13. I second Marc's comments above - just bought a Bass from Dave, went to collect and sadly didn't get to meet Dave as he was stuck in work but Mrs DBR was cool even though I was late! Easy bloke to deal with, trade, buy or sell with confidence! Thanks again Dave!
 14.
Yep we had that at this gig too, face full of sickly vape fumes to start with then 150 people waiting in the entrance for taxis to arrive as we were packing away!
It's a delight, isn't it. I have resolved to pack down, and have swift half while the venue clears.
 15.
£1500 for a slightly tarted up, renamed US Standard. Gotta affect sales this side of the pond surely?

I would have sort so, too. I'm dreading seeing the price of the Elite version ha ha ha ha ha
Yep I'd have thought so too. When you think what you can get out there for £1500.
 16. AH yes, my particular favourite - the last half a dozen people in the venue all standing in the only doorway. Smoking. All being very surprised at the amount of gear you have to cart. Every time you go back. And fore.
 17.
......Playing at full blast in a smallish rehearsal space is barking mad. Not only does it destroy your hearing but you can't actually hear what you're doing, spot the mistakes, improve the song. If that's not why you're rehearsing then what's the point?
This is it in a nutshell. Rehearsal is just that - rehearsal - not a gig. Sure, rehearsal can be 'enjoyed'. But it's not why you're all there, you're there to get the song(s) nailed, nothing else.
 18. So - happy NBD to me. Fender RW Jazz bass, acquired from Daveyboyrooster of this very parish. Here it is, after getting it home and getting familiar. Also had a string change (Sorry Dave, the flats felt lovely, but i'm really used to the lower tension of the Dunlop superbrights I've been using) and setup to my own personal taste. Managed to get the action nice and low with only minimal buzz when digging in. Really punchy sound to it, I'm a very happy man! And here it is with it's sibling: And here saying an aloof hello to some other members of the clan: Such a nice bass, been wanting one of these for a while, and when I saw this one, with the replacement stack knobs (Dave also supplied the original bell plate with pots and jack) I knew it was the right one. Few emails later, and a blast up the motorway, deal was done. Unfortunately didn't get to meet Dave as he was stuck in work, but Mrs DBR was very welcoming even though I was late getting there! Overall a great purchase, from a top fellow BC'er
 19.
With a dremmel cutting bit like this or a small file (if there's space to operate it) you can cut a straight groove all across the screw head and use a flat head screwdriver to remove the screw. Basicly turn this in to this
Top Tip!
 20.
I had one of those - I seem to remember it was awful........May have been my playing though :-)
You could well be right about those amps, i didn't really know my arse from my elbow back in those days!
 21. Following with interest!
 22. I tend to stay with the gear anyway these days, especially this time of year, too bloody cold to go and sit in the van before we start. I'm always last to finish setting up anyway as I do all the line checks.....
 23. Cheers Marc, that's very generous! I'm trying to make it happen, just a matter of a few stars aligning and it'll be mine I hope!
 24. I had a Laney head back in the day, a DP150? I think? One of these: IIRC, it was pretty good! Can't remember what I traded or P/X'd it for, was a looooong time ago!
