1.
Sorry about that, I meant amp as in amplifier head. I was thinking of moving to mesa, and due to their stupid prices over here I was going to pick one up from America...
Why not contact the shop in the states where you want to buy it before you go and see if they can get a UK export model? Could save a lot of agro. Cheers Just
2. Cheers guys, nice to hear good feedback from fellow musos.Makes all the hard work seem worth while. Cheers Just
3.
I havent checked, but is it this one? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=10488 yes, it is.
Yup thats it.I'm struggling with the authenticity of just about all of it.I did'nt dare look at his demo vid though someone did ask for a transcription of the solo.haha.Might ask him some silly questions though.
4. Have just seen this on ebay.Very dubious myself. Ebay Item number: 190186691983 Cheers Just
5. Just found this on Youtube,it s a great shot of his technique whilst just having a bit of a jam by himself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHdN_O5k3WM...feature=related Its not really amps and cabs but I thought it was good. Cheers Just
6. Defo dont use Ikea castors,I tried them myself on my DIY 1x15's and they lasted about one trip to rehearsal before they collapsed.Get good ones and bolt them using tee nuts.Worth also using is two locking castors on opposite corners as many stages are not level.
7. Hi all have just put up our ep to be on myspace.Would be interested to hear opinions. Cheers Just http://www.myspace.com/djute
8. Hi does anyone know where I can get polytone spares in the UK?Have been given an amp to fix and it would be nice to get original parts, esp the missing knobs. Cheers Just
9. Does no one have a favourite crap amp?At practice I'm currently using a very old peavey century amp head with an unknown 1x15 cab.Its a box of farts but if you get the controls just right it has a great "old" tone.Though I must agree I'd rather use my own gear, theres just not enough room to bring it in.
10. For that sort of money you could build something really good,as individual looking as you like, plus a massive power handling(enough to take just about any head you buy in the future)and probably better than you could get new or second hand.Try the BFM plans or even the eminence book.Or get some design software and design your own.
11. Going by the demo vid it would indeed appear that you can play chords through it.Recon it would be wicked with my Pbass with new strings on. Just
12.
Electro Harmonix Micro Pog: http://www.ehx.com/ehx2/Default.asp?q=f&am...2%5FMicro%5FPOG
That seems the ticket, might have to get on for myself.
13. Hi all,I'm asking on behalf of someone else what he best sub harmoniser pedal is.It only has to reproduce an octave down, but it must do it clean,no lag in input/output, be able to cope with harmonics, and more than one note at a time.I think its going to be used for accoustic guitar. Many thanks Cheers Just
14. I hope they all get played. It would be a terrible shame if they did'nt.
15. Wht not try having a break from playing and doing something else for a bit ,then get gat back into playing but from a different perspective?I locked all my gear in a big cupboard for about three months after a six month (six nights a week, two hours a night, cheesy covers)summer season in cornwall a few years ago.I got a regular job 8till 5 and hardaly thought about playing till I got the itch again and was off plying very soon. If you flog all your gear and spend the cash will you be in a position to replace it?(I know I coul'nt) Maybe try listening to something different. Defo learn to drive. Good Luck Cheers Just
16. For sale is my 8 track reel to reel.I've hardly used it since I got it about 5 years ago.Its in generally good order and condition with one minor snag-one channel on the second playback head doesent work but the rest function fine. This does not affect the playback or recording of the main record/playback head.It comes with connection leads, open reel and one reel of ampex tape. £275. Thanks for looking Cheers Just
17. I recently spotted a dynacord amp head in a crack converters but havent had any luck finding much info on it.It was at £220 but has been dropped to £150 although the graphic sliders felt a bit stiff and it looked like it might need a fair bit of time and money spending to fully restore it.Decided not to get it as have been caught out before and spent more on something than it was worth. Quite often these places overprice stuff and dont even bother to give it a decent clean up. Personally I dont agree with the places on a moral basis as they are just legalised loan sharks who rip off people who are desperate for money. There's also alot off ripped of gear in them too.I'd be gutted to find any of my stuff in there.
18.
Doh! Was that a week or so ago when they were closing down or am I thinking about another place in Bath?
I was there last thursday,The shop is on the lower bristol road. The guy was'nt sure how long till they closed,so it could be a couple of weeks or maybe a month or two. Cheers Just
19.
I have some Mullard CV4024 and M8162 valves (Mil. spec ECC81/12AT7) and although they look more rugged I'm buggered if I can tell them apart from the standard valves by sound alone.
I've got quite a few valves knocking about that I was given years ago, although I dont particularly reconise any of the numbers.I'll dig them out and put up a list and see if anyone knows what they are. By the way the shop I got the tube from is L F Hanney in Bath.It was a big box of assorted tubes for a pound each. Cheers Just
20. Only got it as a spare as I've already got a couple of nice old mullards.I shall have to get some plans for an all tube pre amp,can anyone recomend any?
21.
Bit vague there dude. Any more info? Like brand for starters?
No brand I'm afraid, but it does have the crowsfoot.
22. Hi all I just picked up a mil spec ECC83/12AX7 for a pound in a shop thats closing down.I know theres a valve review thats been pinned but has anyone tried the any mil spec valves or have any opinions on their sound quality(I've not tried it yet). All I know is that they're built to be a bit tougher. Cheers Just
23. does anyone know any good music shops in bristol that stock plenty of effects, soundcontrol is sh*te
Rikkaxe has most of the boss stuff, also worth a try is Emis.If you want something proper rare Electric Ladyland is worth a go too, although you may find the proprietor a little rare too.Good luck
24. What about the electro harmonix bass balls? Always get coments after gigs.
25. Not heard the last few albums but Moving pictures was the first album I ever heard.Only seven tracks tracks but has lots of layers and some of they're best songs, though I expect there will be plenty of opinions when you consider how long they've been around.Would love to see them.Sounds like your in for a great night. Cheers Just
