2.
It used to be that Denmark St was almost all owned by MusicGround; is that still the case since they got nabbed, are they all indepedents again? Andy's used to be a cracking shop, but MG killed it, it was hard-core rip off prices when I was last there, but that was in MG's peak days.
Apart from all the CCJ's against the various businesses he had at that address and the debts he left when he filed for bankruptcy - while still managing to keep his Rolls Royce - and the people he [s]stole from[/s] failed to give money to after selling their gear. Andrew John Preston is a liar and a cheat, and I said as much in the papers submitted to the Court when he ripped me off.
3. Being a Hamerfile, I really wasn't expecting to like this, but it does look quite cool
4. I've heard Happy Jack's set up a couple of times. From a punters point of view it sounded great with his line-up of 2 guitars and keys, and sounded great with Low End Bee's 3 piece band when he played through it.
5. 12 string Hamer how do you string it, octave strings above or below?
6. would my zebra print Blitz count?
7. due to a combination of all day drinking and winning a bottle of Jack, the bassist in the band we were supporting at a biker rally sat down a few songs in to their set and fell asleep. He wouldn't let go of the bottle of Jack, but gave up his Ricky which I finished the gig on. We did a mixture of their own material and some rock standards. Didn't know most of the tunes but followed the guitarist and busked it, and it worked out all right in the end.
8.
Simple but thundering - Love Song : The Damned And what a bastard of a tone!
+1 could also say 'Neat neat neat'.
9. what everyone has said, but also some singer/songwriter types want to do one of their own songs so they'll play the verse and chorus then everyone joins in and follows them.
10. Yep it's happened to me. The first thing is to make sure the strap length is comfortable. Then you just get on with it
11. Ace of Spades - Motorhead a bit cheesey but still great
12. For me the coolest basses ever would have to be more than just a bass, and would have to have some history. So Macca's Hofner, the P that Simonon is tring to destroy on the London Calling cover, Jaco's jazz, Bernard Edwards MM, the bass Lynott did his last gig with... etc...
13. The only project I can think of, is firewood.
14. Don't buy a hat then get a hair cut a few weeks later
15.
Wow - exciting times. So you are definitely going white? Does that mean a re-think of hardware?
IMO gold hardware looks the biz on white basses/guitars.
16. Go on then, I'll play Hamer Blitz.
17. So just to clarify: Am I wrong in assumong he only takes one bass to a gig? And rather than pay the extra to take his one special bass in the cabin, he's happy to put it in the hold? Even though he is a professional bassist earning his living playing said bass?
18.
Having played that bass, its a standard laminate bass with a heavy coat of black lacquer so it should be able to do anything a 'normal' DB can do. That said, as a laminate its better suited to slap and pizz I guess than arco
i remember the Rockabilly revival back in the late 70's and always loved the guys spinning the DB's and jumping on them while playing like Geoff Kresge is doing in the pic at the bottom. Although they mention the solid build, they don't mention anything about accommodating the weight of jumping on them. If I had a sig DB that would be the first thing I'd mention
19.
I'd like one of these...... Not a 1940s bass for experienced people only
imagine seeing one of those in a traditional orchestra Can they be bowed or are they designed for slap?

A splendid chap I'm sure, but not to be confused with I
21. i used to own the PJB dalek. M500 head, 8T and 16B cabs. In a word - yes. Sound quality is amazing and the tonal options from the head are almost infinite. I only let the rig go because it wouldn't fit in my new car
22. I'm with Homer on this one. The lack of effort made with the packaging and lead is inexcusable, it just shows the shop don't give a rats.
23. I'm trying to get a decent synth bass sound from my ME50-B. The kind of instant attack sound Quincy Jones would use, I don't want squelsh or boing. I've tried the synth bass settings and have fiddled with modulation effects and compression but I'm still not getting there. Any advice? ta.
24. Nikki Sixx Bootsy Collins Larry Graham Billy Sheehan Mark Mendoza with an honourable mention to Quincy Jones, not for his bass playing but for his basslines.
25. it's the recession, everyone is downsizing.
