  1. Came across an article from guitar.com (I know, I feel dirty but it popped up in my feed. I don't regularly go there. Honest) that reckons a new Meteora is on the way, not just with 6 strings, but as a bass too! It's all originally from another forum, so who knows if it's true, but here's a link and some pics.... https://www.offsetguitars.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=121559 I really like the Meteora shape and reckon these look cool. Just wish they were passive (maybe there's an active/passive switch?) and Fender made them outside of what looks to be the player plus line. They'd make a good design to go after the t'bird market.
  2. I really like it so far! Apart from the jazz shape, what I really like about the neck is the vintage tint gloss and narrow frets. The fret work is good and it's extremely playable. The body is basswood, which some people might not be a fan of, but it does mean it's pretty light. The pups sound like a PBass. It's the second Japanese P bass I've had and they've both been excellent. If you're thinking of picking one up then I'd go for it!
  3. Well, if we had that attitude then the classifieds section would be fairly deserted! 😁 I think it's just that the burst and tort looks a bit standard. I'm not a fan of pearloid, so it's probably either gold, black, or some sort of aged white. And this is indeed where the Roto's will be ending up, thank you again for those!! Ohhhhhh, that's mighty tempting and I wouldn't mind taking you up on that! I'll see if I can find out what sort of hole pattern fits mine. Worse comes to worse I can just hold it over the body 😁
  4. The lollipops are a nice touch, the side dot markers are like an orangey colour too, so add to the vintage vibe. Chuffed with it so far. The fretboard is a tad darker than it looks in the pics too, but I might give it an oil to darken it again 😊
  5. I recently sold a Pbass and thought I'd replace it with..........a PBass! It's a MIJ Hama Okamoto signature Precision.........who? That was my first thought too. He's the chap who has the pointy Katana as his new sig. Essentially it's a 62 reissue body, but with a jazz neck. Nice and light and the neck is a breeze to get around. I'm not too sure if the tort will stay, I'm possibly thinking anodised gold and whacking a pup cover on it too, but we'll see. I'm not sure how the chrome and gold will go together.
  6. I'm glad I'm not the only one who wondered that!
  7. I fall into the 50/50 camp personally and generally float between fingers and a pick depending on what I'm playing. I can't say I've ever thought playing with a pick was uncomfortable myself. Although there's no contour, the body is pretty thin so I've always found it to be okay for me. When I have played slab bodies with a pick, I've always found it comfier to push the neck out away from me slightly. Or maybe try holding it so the neck is more vertical?
  8. I bought a Ric about 20 years ago without playing one and just hoped I liked it as much as my ears liked the clank it produced. Luckily for me, I loved it! I've just put flats on it and will be bringing it to a blues rehearsal on Tuesday. Can't wait!
  9. Hey @neepheid, I managed to install the cover Ok, only added 2 extra holes to my bass and the rest of the finish is free from any drill marks! Thanks for digging this out and for the installation tips, Matt!
  10. I'm not the biggest fan of prog, but have to admit that I've always had a soft spot for King Crimson (maybe because they seem heavier than others and don't dress up as wizards?) and have been listening to this loads recently......
  11. I don't think anyone has mentioned these yet.......... Epiphone Jack Casady G&L Kiloton (Tribute version also available) G&L CLF L-1000 You also don't mention scale, so shorties include Fender Mustang G&L Fallout (Tribute version also available) Guild Starfire I Gibson Les Paul JR DC which you already mentioned. There are bound to be countless others.
  12. The stealth Kiloton looks like a mean machine, it's a shame they don't do a version with black hardware too! What's the finish on the back of the neck like on your new toy?? Is it similar to the SB2?
  13. Every bas should come with blocks!
  14. That's lovely and I really like the CAR finish. It seems G&L have done pretty well from us on the forum recently! 😁
  15. There's a great band called 'John'. Just a guitarist and drummer, who are both called John. I don't know if they were to ever add a bassist, if they'd need to be called John too?
  16. Hahahaha, we'll see what we can do for the next show! Massive Attack have done the best I've seen so far. They re-released one of their albums in DNA...... https://www.wired.co.uk/article/massive-attack-mezzanine-dna-album
  17. This is what we did for our last show........
  18. I'd probably avoid, but it might be worth at least getting in touch to find out what the deal is. I get the impression that you'd just be part of a backing band and wouldn't have much creative input, in which case I'd avoid.
  19. Ah, shame you didn't get on with it. I picked up a SG last year and it's one of my favourite basses to play, every now and again I Google 'TV Yellow SG bass' and your one still comes up.
  20. PB is such a great colour and I really love the way it ages too, although I'd have to go for a black or cream scratch plate. As lovely as this is, @Clarky, that TV yellow one you have (or had?) is probably the best looking SG Bass I've seen!
  21. I really love the look of them, they're cool as, but haven't played one so can't say more than that. I think they did a model with J pups that was supposedly better than the P version
  22. Ahhhh, I didn't know they did guitars in that finish too. When I saw the back of the neck, my first thought was they should have continued the finish, and the geetars look so much better for it
  23. Any Stingray would fit into this category for me. They're an iconic looking bass, I love the design and tone, but I'd never use it in a band because the tone just isn't me in a band setting. I also keep looking at this LTD at guitar guitar. I'm not sure if I love it or hate it and I'm far too bald to join a hair metal band..
  24. Absolutely lovely bass. Tbirds are stunning, really comfortable and their sound lives up the the 'thunder' part of their name. Enjoy it!
