I can understand if people were bashing their basses, or asking questions that dont have any relevance to EBMM gear but to ask what goes better, or what other people think sounds better with their basses seems a pretty normal question to me. I think this just proves my point. If Gareth was to post any concerns over this on there we all know what would happen.

The best place to ask for help with a certain product should surely be the manufacturers own forums.

I think it might be a good idea to take some pics before its sent off. Just in case things get heavy.

We used to have a couple in my school back in the 70's. Cant remember if they were good or not but they seemed to do the job.

Yep, quite a few songs were rushed when i first joined my current band, even simple ones like Brown eyed girl and stuck in the middle. Over the past few years ive sat down and listened to them again and have been surprised at how different i play them. Im not after note for note perfection but sometimes certain parts of a song are best played the original way IMO.

Im dont get why Ashdown make a big deal of it being made in the UK. Surely anything we buy, no matter where its put together should be just as good (sometimes better IME). Making a big deal about this being made (probably just hand assembled) in the UK should not make a difference to its quality. I also think its looks cheap. Not ugly as such but it reminds me of one of those novelty DAB radios, like the Marshall one.

I think in 5 years time people will be replacing the fender logo with Squier as it will be a sign of quality to have Squier on the headstock. Could be wrong of course

Drummer to me "at least know the songs and keep it all together". Normally met with a stern look or a (virtual) fork in the neck.

When i got my Duck Dunn last year it had a Hanson in it and it had red and black wires. Dave's right about the cloth wires being Fralins. I did change both pups in my DJ5 but cant remeber the colours.

Maybe im missing something but i cant see a problem with the body being old. It might have been sitting in a stock room waiting for an order to come in. Im pretty sure the bodies and necks wont be made together. Not commenting on the other issues, just the date on the body. Just thinking out aloud.

Just a waste of time. Ive seen someone get told off by a mod just for talking about another manufactures strings and comparing them to EB's.

On the subject of custom orders, when i was looking for a Fender P5 i found quite a few websites 9some were real shops) offering it but none had it in stock. I called a few and was told they could get me one but i couldn't send it back as it was a custom order. I never put it to the test as i didnt think that was right so went elsewhere. Im pretty sure you will be ok though. The distance selling law is to allow you the same options as if you were to open the box in a shop and not like it.

Gareth, for your health and sanity i really think you should call Strings and Things rather than just waiting it out. There could be many reasons they haven't replied to your email and you have no way of knowing when they will.

If i was in this situation i wouldn't even be waiting for an answer (as i wouldn't know if it was the truth anyway), i would just send it back, get a refund and try something else.
