1. Prog can be anything from Radiohead to King Crimson, both at two sides of the scale. Obviously since Punk's evolution in the 70s, English prog rock has seemed to die out. But more recently, bands such as Haken, BTBAM have come out of the woodwork with influences of Gentle Giant, Genesis. I guess this then begins to transcend in what you are referring to when you say progressive metal. This does interest me but its a very enclosed community, particularly in the North. I'm pretty sure there are frequent stuff going around this genre in London, maybe I'm just missing a trick by living in Yorkshire where people don't want to jam with you as you have no transport or live in another city..
You may not be looking in the right places as there are people playing stuff that at the very least touches on prog all over. You tried any prog specific forums maybe?
Which forums would you suggest? I only use Joinmyband currently and perhaps this is where I have been going wrong. Certainly Jazz circles don't use this medium as there are plenty of workshops around Sheffield which probably pre-occupy their time.
I'll do some prog stuff as long as it's not too complex as I'm rubbish too
I'm not saying I'm Jaco Pastorious or anything but I'd like to develop some of my skills in this genre which get neglected in the band I'm currently in.
 2.
"Does no one want to make Prog Music?" (Loud shouts from all directions...) NO, NO-ONE..!
I apologise for this awful English, does anyone play prog any more***
 3. HI, Just messaging this out of interest if anyone has or in a prog style band and wondering where the best places in the country for that genre are? I've been looking around in Yorkshire and can't seem to find anything. I like playing simple funk stuff but eventually I would like to make music of that ilk. Yorkshire is like the biggest county outside London as well..I know this isn't Joinmyband or anything but I'm interested if anyone has any success.
 4. Looks like I've joined this thread. 1996 USA Fender Deluxe which I got for a steal!
 5. Bought a Genz Benz Shuffle of him. Very easy to communicate and an extremely fast transaction! Did so much to deliver an amp to me personally!
 6. Just to clarify this is sold, Have replied to you privately Dan.
 7. Saw Sikth headline Manchester Academy with Hactivist and Destrage. Wanted to see Sikth for so long, they toured in 2014 but I couldn't get to the gig because of Uni. Alas, Sikth definitely one of the tightest bands I've seen to date, despite the difficulty of their songs. and that comes from a list which includes of King Crimson. Hactivist were okay, not sure I'm a fan of the rap djent stuff. Bit dull and repetitive. Destrage were amazing at this gig, never heard of them before but it was kind of all over the place with a lot of cool riffs.

 11.
Sometime Sunday evening might work as we get back from Northumberland Saturday evening
PM sent^^.
 12.
An acoustic test is sufficient to see whether it has the character I'm looking for, I could also bring my headphone amp and phones to check the sounds
This weekend would probably be the best if you are available, then it could be possible.
 13.
If this is still around at the weekend when am home in Sheffield I may ask to come and meet it
To be clear, it is probably likely that the bass will be in Sheffield from Thursday but I do not have capacity to allow to try it at mine for the time being. Regards, James.
 14.
Ah,any chance of getting it to Sheffield so I can have a look? I'm not far away in huddersfield..
It is certainly a possibility, I go to Leeds quite regularly which is not far.
 15.
Where are you based James?
I'm based in Sheffield currently but the bass is in Reading.
 16. Pictures are up! Also forgot to mention that the neck is Wenge wood. Also the neck width at the nut is 1.52 inches, neck thickness at fret 24 is 2.48 inches and 0.83 at fret 1. I hope this answers any questions in regards to measurements.
 17.
Is it active? can you tell me what the width of the neck is at zero fret and also depth of neck please ( i have small hands!! ) used to a fender jazz fretless so has to be c shaped and thin
Yeah it is active and I would say they're some of the most aggressive sounding pickups I have owned. I have played both and I can categorically say that the neck on the Thumb is thinner than that of a jazz. Bare with me and I shall get accurate measurements.
 18.
oh hurry please.
There is a bit of information for you ^^.
