1.
sorry, no bass, just a high end cable that I had won in january...
Say my name.
2.
so i spend most of my time looking like side show bob
David Luiz?
3. I see you wrote that the guy played it for you. Maybe to know its a bargain, play it first!
4. Its a great price, I sold mine a few months ago for around £300. These are great instruments. Really aggressive tone that can break through the mix really well. As its well known and the major selling point, the G and Ls are made by Leo Fender. And personally I think they're rival them very well. Put them up against a MIM Fender Jazz deluxe and you get a similar tone. Maybe the G and L is a bit superior with the great tapping and slapping tones. The build quality is great as well. On the contrary of some other comments on this thread, the body is very thick and the neck can be quite bulky if you're buying a five string version. However I do agree in the sense that the fretboard is a bit Squier-esque. But if you enjoy that kind of basic playability which I enjoyed then by all means its the bass for you.
5. Have a bump for a great bass!
6. This a picture of the back. The cable on the right is the power and the cable on the left is the 8ohms output to the cab.
7. Alright, I have a 400. Maybe I'm using the wrong picture just to show what head to cab lead I needed.
8. Hey lads! I've had Valve amps before. I'm not that much of a rookie!! However need to have a look at it in more detail as I do think I've put it in the wrong ohms. Therefore breaking the valves..yay. At least they haven't cracked. Maybe it was a smart move getting a 400 rather than a 400+ in that regard. Oh well, looks extremely cool. I've even seen videos on youtube which do it justice honestly. Couldn't be happier with it. Thanks for the recommendations, hopefully I'll get it up and running soonish :S.
9. Unfortunately that isn't mine. Its one I found on the internet because it was easier at the time. I will take a look at the valves, see if they're Mesa ones.
10. Alrighty mate, Thanks for the advice! I have only ever had one other head. And that was a lot more straight forward. Hopefully its in full working order!
11. So if I running it through a 8Ohm cab on its own. Then it won't work?
12.
If my memory is right you can use both channels at once with a Y cable or ABY box. I remember it gave a lovely sound. Sigh - i'm lusting after one again... Might just buy an axe fx instead... :|
I did see an Axe Fx on eBay a few days ago for £900. They're a lot lighter but definitely more sort after. Saying that, I had to put down a deposit on the 400 because the guy had so much interest in it!
13. I really like using the Graphic EQ. I've always had them on my amps. But I'll need to get my head around the tone controls and the Volume 1 and 2 parts. Going to pop down the music store today and grab a speak on jack. 0
14.
I've found the cabs are bulkier so the weight is a bigger factor. The head is heavy, but compact (vs a cab) so it isn't as cumbersome. I'd totally cut cab weight first.
You're right. Its why I'd probably go for a GK/TC electronic cab because its more of a one man job. I don't mind having the weight because I can just stick some wheels onto it if necessary.
15. Finally got it today. Pretty heavy in its flight case. Haven't played it yet. What Head to Cab cable does this use? I bought a regular one and it doesn't fit. See picture (Far left).
16.
Marleaux are really great basses.... .I just purhased a consat signature and thats the reason i ll have to sell it. I m not the first owner....Also as you saw i have the certificate Also the price is a bit negotiable so make your ofgers Cheers
They really are. The Consat signature is a neck through? It always helps with the sale if you have the certificates. I just got a Marleaux this summer, I won't be buying a new one for a while!
17. Marleauxs are the best! Are you the first owner?
18. I picked up an Aria Pro 2, don't know the model, but it sounds amazing. Active pickups. A lot of grind and very good higher end. Arias are probably the best for buying a cheap bass. That or Ibanezs/Yamahas. (Made in the Matsumoku factory).
19. Haha true true. I like having lightweight cabs. But don't really mind about the heads because you can just place them on top of the cabs so it is relatively easier to have heavier items. Saying that I do like GK/Carvin heads for the their weight and the punch which it gives.
20.
I love the notion of a 400 as a 'practice' amp. Headphones in the bedroom, perhaps..? We rehearse (and play out...) with a Hiwatt 200 valve head, but for practice, I use a Vox Amplug..!
Haha, I think I worded that wrongly. Its for future gigs and sometimes a practice amp!
21. Stuart Zender Signature as well! Looking good.
22. Preference is everything. But the Mark bass has a lot more warmth and clarity for me. I've had a TC electronic cab and it was extremely weak.
