1. The first headless I have owned. Its great. The look of it just fits. The bonus of this headless in particular is that it is extremely well balanced. Usually with some headless basses the neck or body will weigh down the other. With this it is not the case! Plus the rarity of the instrument threw me into getting it. Its very similar to a Consat but obviously without a head.
2. Well it definitely get played a lot! So its worth it in that regard. I really like the Matte finish over the Bubinga with the light highlights. Almost like feathers! Never seen that kind of finish before. Were you after a Marleaux as well?
3. Exactly! Well, I initially put this up for sale to pay for it. But turns out I won't need the money.
4. Hey guys, I just want to share a bass I picked up over the summer. A Headless Marleaux Betra Custom. This is one of the best basses I have ever seen, heard and felt. The design is flawless. The body is a bubinga with what can only be described as highlights of yellow/orange/white matte finish. The versatility of this bass is insane. I would could go from playing Tool to Weather Report. There is a 3 band EQ and lots of tone control. Passive/active switch allows much more versatility also. This helps the playability also. The maple neck makes it extremely easy to play and is very fast. Which is always a bonus! 5. Yes sure fella, we'll keep in touch. I'm having second thoughts on selling the bass however.
6. The string spacing for the 4 string is 19mm.
7. I'm in Reading currently but moving back up to Sheffield on the 13th for university.
8. Thanks mate. The only reason I want to let this go is because of the want for Dolphin is too great!
9. Hello there, I'm selling a Stu Hamm signature. This is a great bass, very fun to tap and slap on. Very much similar to the Yamaha Attitude of Billy Sheehan. I see it as the bass I play tricks on! This comes with a Fender soft case. Specifications: Short scale. 24 Frets. Active Electronics. All black finish, scratch plate is changeable. 3 Band EQ: Volume, treble, bass. (The knobs used on the Fender Urge are the same of those used on Kubicki model). 2 Jazz Pickups, I think they are original with this bass. I did initially plan on putting in a P bass pickup to create my own Fender Urge Mark 1 USA version. Trades: -Fender Jazz Deluxe Fretless (MIM). Thanks for looking! Regards, James.
10. Hello there, I'm selling my Warwick Thumb, made in 1997 to make funds for buying a Warwick Dolphin. The bass is virtually mint condition. It is a great bass for metal and funk. It comes with a Warwick Rock bass gig bag. I'm trying to make a quick sale because I need the money pretty pronto. Specifications: No. of Frets 24 Scale Length (mm) 864 Country of Origin Germany Weight (kg) 4 Guitar Body Material Ovankol, Wenge Neck. No of Strings 4 Body Style Twin cutaway, solidbody, four-string, active, bolt on neck. Pickups 2 MECs pickups.
11. Interesting. The MIM necks are really short I agree. However I've seen a lot of P basses knocking about on Gumtree and eBay.
12. Indeed however if you look here: it does contain a Precision pickup as the middle pickup so you could still get that sound! Bridge Pickup: Standard Single-Coil Jazz Bass Middle Pickup: Standard Split Single-Coil Precision Bass Controls: Volume 1. (Middle Pickup), Volume 2. (Bridge Pickup), Master Tone Pickup Configuration: SS
13. Is this a standard or a deluxe? Judging by the picture I presume a standard! Regards, James.
14. This is back up on eBay!
15. http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/fender-aerodyne-jazz-bass-for-sale/1079137720 < Wittle the price down by £50 and someone has a bargain!
16. Do you reckon its a Deluxe? Because at £200 for a MIM Deluxe is pretty cheap!
17. Yes, after finding a few Status wooden necks. It does seem to what they fetch around. Browsing recently, there are plenty of bargains out on Gumtree! Found this: http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/fender-2001-sunburst-jazz-4-string-bass/1078309679?utm_source=systemedm&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=adreply Although a standard, still a bargain!
18. http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/status-5-string-fretless-bass/1078730485#photo-content < £450 for a Status is a good deal, no?
19. Hello everyone. I was just posting this thread on the topic of Carl Thompson basses, how expensive they are and if there are any alternatives out there? Being a big Les Claypool/Stanley Clarke fan. I do have a thing for the different styles of the Carl Thompson basses. Especially the Rainbow style. However these cost close to £10,000. Its not even plausesable for me to even consider spending this amount of money on a bass. On the other hand, I have done some research into alternatives: http://adamstonebasses.com/ < Adam Stone basses made in the USA. Most of the models are replicas or copies of the CT basses but at a quarter of the price. You can get a replica standard for around $900. Which is a bargain. On the website there are several videos of the Adam Stone basses: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y81A9MLkods. Although I have not heard back from him after emailing him a few weeks ago. So I'm cautious if he is that active any more making basses. There is a update clarifying that. But I think the waiting list is rather long and getting it shipped over to the UK may prove difficult. Lastly. Many people may not have heard of them but Eve guitars : http://www.eveguitars.co.uk/. Douglas makes his basses in Scotland and has two models ; Elite and Pro designs. They are fully customizable at a bite size price. Pro standard price is £900, the Elite being from £2000. To me if you wanted a Carl Thompson style mixed with a Warwick. Look no further. I'm considering these as options because I do think you could get a similar look if you picked the right woods from Eve to make them look similar. They're relatively new so you do play the risk of no resale value. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UD99gs0qeAM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqm4KfV5FC8. Check these out, see what you think! Regards, James.
20. Is this a standard or a Deluxe? I presume standard by the price.
