1. Pliers are no good, unless you grind them down. You should get Stew Mac fret pullers. It's not difficult but it depends on the neck materials, lacquered? Binding? Wood that splinters easily?
  2.
Whichever matches your nail polish. Alex
In my case, it's the white Jazz then.
  3.
Jesus, I'm not getting into a fight or anything here, I just wanted advice...this is why I wanted to ask some questions via PM's not litter the thread with crap about whether people like Bongo's or not. I will also say here that compared to the DJ5 and my Geddy Jazz, it's a very quiet bass. As my post [to Wayne] says, I have worked on the set-up on the bass over the weekend and I'm rehearsing with it tonight. I was distinctly underwhelmed with it last week; maybe it'll be different this evening. We'll see. P
That's why I put my own questions like this in either the Bass Guitars sub forum or the Repairs and Technical Issues one. The way I see it, you may help others in the future with public questions and responses, whereas with your approach, no-one learns anything but you. Not having a go, just my thoughts.
  4. May I politely ask why you can't post the questions on the forum? Am I missing something?
  5. Agreed, a very clever, simple, elegant solution to an existing problem. You'd better patent that quickly.
  6.
Funny enough ... I did that with most of the motown stuff and 80 disco ... I loaded them in to the 300 track cd changer .... poured myself an nice glass of Chateau Latour 45 .... and stuck my Louisville slugger next to me on the couch .... 2 seconds later bammmmmm the Latour was all over the walls and the cds are no longer....
How DARE you treat such noble heroes with such disrespect! Do you realise how much inspiration they provide to so many, those guys at Chateau Latour??
  7.
The Music .... is like any other tune out there to be fair what is kool these days in the slap world ...????? How many times can you get Victor to thump out a tune or Stan da man ... to do taps on the bass?? But Wojtek is a true trooper .... and he is still trying to keep the funk and slap around and going or we would all be jamerjacoisks.... [yes a new word]
I'll sort of give you that But I like MUSIC, not instrument athletics. It's always too tempting to write some sh*t quickly just so you can spoo all over it. Look at the instrumental shred guitar that's always been about. Stick down a jazz/blues groove in 7/8 with a few stock clever bits in, jizz all over it and call it a ubernaff name like "Sevens". I don't agree everyone otherwise is a jamerjacoisk, good word though that is. There's so much more to bass that copying the the old time heroes, thank god.
  8. The piece of music's a monstrosity but the groove is cool and the playing is cool. I liked it for nearly a minute! Be nice if their technique stretched to some interesting compositions instead of the usual fast food fusion quickly put together to show of the chops.

    hello
When someone makes an amp and speakers that fits in my pocket and fills the Albert Hall, I'll concider civilisation to be at it's zenith.
I'll help you with the Champagne mate! Never needed or wanted a bass amp, POD X3 Live for me all the way

    hello
Welcome Russ. Good intro. Gotta be careful with these online social things. Next thing you know you'll be wife-swapping.
Hello!

Superb name This is a great place to be, I've learned SOOOO MUCH and met some splendid people. Cheers.
  12.
Hi Telebass, thanks for the welcome. Me on stage? Well if anyone ever organises a gig for the deaf, I'm your man Cheers, Rob
Hello mate.
  13. Ah, someone into bass synth. I'm a POD X3 Live man myself so the synth stuff isn't there yet but it's a helluva lot of fun with a fretless bass and a ton of effects! Watch your wallet and your GAS on here, it can get pretty dicey
  14. Yeah, that's comprehensive dude! Nice to have you on the flight. It's so much fun putting guitars together, but after donkey's years of doing it, I now trust Warwick with my needs and the tools are for home DIY only now Cheers.
  15. Hello mate! Nice to meet another fretless player.
  16. Personally speaking I think a certain level, maybe Grade 5 or 6, in piano would have the single biggest benefit to my life as a bassist and musician. But I just don't have time anymore, which is a bloody shame.
  17.
Deal
Oops, I meant POD X3 Live, even better!
  18.
Doc, you forgot to add "and I have no imagination or creativity and cannot be arsed to write my own songs".
Or that those who do play originals are crusty cheese infested goons with odd socks who moan and bitch in a dirty pub on a cheap acoustic about how bad working in the cotton fields of Park Royal can be in the rain and having to live in a tin shack with rats and roaches in north Acton ..
  19.
Bit of a shame IMO. I actually really like the fatter "U" shape. I suspect I'm in a minority though.
This is weird, I have a 2007 Corvette $$ 4 and I LOVE it's U neck. I got a 2009 Corvette STD fretless a few weeks ago and I got a real surprise when the neck was much shallower. I was a bit disappointed TBH. I would much prefer it with the U neck. I knew nothing about the change.
