    Moollon JV5

Ohhhh.. nearly ready...... on its way soon.
  2. Based in Essex UK. Post is not a problem depending on where..........Vanuatu might be an issue but Liverpool isn't
  3. NO TRADES PLS............Need the cash This is my Laurus T800 sixer. Priced to sell - stupid price infact. Maple top and low low action for any sixer by a mile. Pope pre-amp and overall a beast. I should be asking a lot more for this but It's not getting used. If you've ever been Laurus curious, now is the time.
  4. I'm finding that I'm starting to get rather weary to all but the really exceptional top woods. The term Burl Blindness seems appropriate. The one thing I really want to know is how instruments sound. Yes nice if its pretty, but it all seems very disproportionate in favour of aesthetics rather than tone. When every bass above £500 is covered in some exotic wood you have to ask yourself has it gone to far? Is it worth it? would you not prefer that money spent on better pups?
  5. Demeter VTBP - m- 800 followed by Darkglass Microtubes (clean sound for me) And......... Ampeg B15n
  6. For Sale ONLY - Price Drop £650 This is my Darkglass Microtubes 900. Purchased 30th June 2017 so its just over 4 months old. Cost me £850.00 image of receipt attached. The amp has been used in 6 rehearsals and not gigged. It has been kept in an ali flight case all of that time and is now sold back in its original card box. Footswitch never used. I'm selling because I have gone over to a Demeter which I prefer and I like having my distortion on my board. Priced for a quick sale.
  7. My awesome Moollon JV5 Oly white, sanded neck natural head stock on the bench, ready for assembly. Can't wait.
  8. I used to run a 6 pc function band about 16 years ago. We used to earn really good money £800 - £1500 a night. These days ( having had a decade off) I don't do functions but I've been surprised how little money is on offer all round even for a good band.
  9. Let me be clear.............. there is nothing wrong with what he does - nothing at all. There is nothing wrong with his talent, capabilities or teaching all excellent. BUT the poxy click bait jargon is annoying.
  10. I am just getting tired of the SBL BS ........... why now apparently Six Sting Bass Sucks not just 5 -ho about 4? Why not take string off and do 3? I'm not a Groove Hacker or Low End Lover. I just want to be spoken to like a grown up get better at bass without all the utter twaddle.........
  11. Anything with buggered strings no matter how expensive it was...............except a 77 ray which sounds soooooooo Edwards
  12. If you can pick up and old Ibanez Musician you would be getting something made by hand with a fabulous range of tones. I had one for a long time. It cost me £500 it. When I wanted to go upmarket I had to spend another 4 grand to better it. Fantastic gorgeous basses.
  13. I'm curious if anyone agrees with YG that raising the action improves the tone. Has anyone found this? My experience is that it seems to have some effect with old J basses but not P's - seems to tighten p the bridge puck-up tone, What do you think,?
  14. The deed is done. This is my funeral bass. I call it that because if my wife finds out what it cost she would kill me. [sharedmedia=core:attachments:244191]
  15. I use Allen & Heath QU series. Works really well but beware.... most of these that use an external hard drive for recording are fussy as hell and won't work with anything above 1gb. Try and even find a 1Gb external powered drive these days........ bits of the technology are way behind the times.
  16. I use a Focusrite Scarlet unit into my mac. Its perfect.
  17. I've kept my SMX 15" combo from new. Still love it with its matching 15" extension. I played some big old places + outdoors and never - ever ran out of headroom. Lots of cone moving lots of air, big toroidal transformers and big power caps - no transient issues there. Its heavy and I don't gig it now but it never let me down once in the years I have had it. Good enough for Bernard Edwards - good enough for me.
  18. Slap is about tone. If your tone is good and you can groove tightly its very nice. The odd bit of exhibitionism is also ok but machinegun bollocks - not even musical.Good pick work an be every bit funky. Its a tool which, if used well and in the right place, gives some great accent in a broader palate. For me its in - I don't care what other people's hang-ups are.
  19. O so I lied about the Warwick, :-) it weighs just under a metric tonne but that wasn't the point.
  20. I have an early NT Thumb Sixer and it weighs in at 11 1/2 lbs. When people see it hey say, oohh heavy - I couldn't cope with that. If I take out my Fodera which weighs not much more that a pound less - they say oohh Fodera want my kidney? I say its heavy they usually say that they wouldn't care. (perhaps more graphic expletives). My point is that unless you have a bad back, are very modest in stature or build or happen to be 83 then whole weight thing is utter nonsense. Ooh I'm a healthy man in my mid 40's oooh 12 pounds!, couldn't possibly carry that across my manly shoulders on a comfortable strap for a whole hour! Skinny little girls carry 18lb toddlers around all day on one arm. Jeez.....man up guys............
  21. Have a bump on me........Cannot believe that this hasn't been snapped up yet. One of the best makers of passive basses in the world right now.
