1. I'll let this go for £400 posted...need the money to buy a head....would consider swaps for a decnt head with a headphone out. As for the original neck...it's on the Highway 1 and it's staying there
2. Has someone here broken the internet? cos i can't get on the site. Probably just as well....can't afford GAS at the moment.
3.
That's why they are frequently referred to as 'Parcelfarce'
Or more accurately: a bunch of useless bastards. I paid 24 quid with APC to send me Spector to Mike H and that included insurance for £350.
4.
Didn't the highway 1 come with a badass? Or is that the highway 1 upgrade or something?
No, it's a 2003 highway 1 which came with the normal Fender bridge.
5.
That is not quite true.
Ah well at least that means it's not quite wrong either Put it this way...i had an Arctic White MIM p bass, bought new this year from IMUSO, that i sold on here to another member and the pickguard that you see on this bass would not fit on it, however, it would fit directly onto my Highway 1....WD music also sell both American and Mexican P pickguards....both with differing screw holes...i know this because i've bought both.
6.
When were the pics taken mate? I can’t see the Bad Ass II? Fantastic price with everything considered…
Pics were taken when i was trying out the Bad Ass on the Highway 1. Just realised that i do have some circumstantial evidence that this is a MIA body....American P Bass pickguards fit right on...mexican ones have the screw holes in different places and don't.
7.
Good shots. I'm guessing you're not a folk band.
I'm thinking Gospel meself.
8. Withdrawn...bought some passive Kent Armstrong pups...gonna change it to passive and sell the Aguilar and EMG's. This is a slightly modified version of the Forum Famous controversial P Bass that all regulars of the forum have come to know and love...except me. It has a Chrome Red MIA Special P body, routed in the factory for a bridge pup...some would have you believe it is a MIM body but i soundly believe it is a MIA...i have no evidence to back this up other than the info from the original owner and the fact that it does not smell of enchiladas, but does have a slight smell of Hershey Bars about it. It is fitted with EMG pups and Aguilar OBP2 pre. A very versatile sounding bass for those who like the EMG sound....i don't, so it has to go. It originally had an Allparts jazz neck fitted, it now has a P neck from my Highway 1 P bass and looks much better for it in my, not so humble, opinion. At least i now know that the neck at least was made in America if nowt else. It also has a Bad Ass II bridge fitted. It's in VGC with only one ding on the top of the body and the usual swirl marks to be expected with a bass of this age...one of the volume pots is a bit scratchy too. It will be posted in a functional Gator case. Strap locks are NOT included. Asking £400 posted. No offers or swaps, payment by Bank Transfer only.
9. I'm putting this back on sale again...mainly because i don't play pick and my fingers are a wee but too big for the string spacing on this beast. This is a lovely sounding bass...very versatile for a shortscale. It's as new with only minor swirl marks. This bass retails for around £1600.00 brand new...i got mines for £1300 new from Promenade music a few months ago ( can supply receipt) I'm asking a very fair £950 posted for the bass....may swap for something like a nice MIA P bass. 10. Bought Keirs G&L ASAT from him this week. Super smooth deal with no problems whatsoever. Really friendly guy and a pleasure to deal with.
11.
Caveat Emptor though guys eh?
There's a picture of this bass in the dictionary beside that phrase
12. I would have started playing the bass line from 'A Bomb in Wardour Street' and shouted ; 'OI! Foxton!! this is how it SHOULD be done!!!' you soft Southern pooftah!
13. I work in retail and the amount of time that the police have picked up shoplifters, who've been caught on camera but have evaded capture by staff, outside Cash Converters is enough to prove to me that they do handle a lot of stolen goods...obviously they buy this gear in good faith Saying all this, the lucky guy who got the bargain is under no obligation to care whether it's been nicked or not...besides, the original owner has probably had his insurance pay out anyway.
14.
If this story is true, it's blatantly a stolen bass. No matter how destitute you are, there's no way you'd sell your $4000 bass to crack converters for a tenner. He should try and find the owner, I know if I was the owner I'd buy the bass back off him for a damn sight more than £80!
The 'owner' wouldn't have to pay anything...a stolen bass is a stolen bass even if you've bought it in good faith...it still belongs to the original owner...or the insurance company if they paid out.
15.
I have an old Jazz. I lent it to a student. It now seems to have a tough to shift layer of grime on it and the neck, which was down to bare wood many years ago feels dry What do I use to clean it? The paint is nitro and is trashed beyond, but I could really do without the grime aspect. I have tried Dunlop 65 guitar polish because I had some lying around but it does not seem to have done the trick. I am aware that lending it out was risky at best. TIA
I used WD40 to shift the wee bits of grime that came with my used highway 1...it has a nitro finish...don't blame me if it has any adverse effects though
16. I love my baby sick Highway 1....mines is a 2003 from the US, plays great, sounds great and is nice and light:
17. Withdrawn....fell in love with the bitch again.
18.
any reason to swap bridges, or do you just prefer the highway one or something so given it the better bridge?
Yeah, prefer the simplicity of the standard P...too many controls confuse chimp The P Special does really suit the rosewood neck, doesn't it?
19. I get bored easily and i like bright colours....i'm not much removed evolution wise from a chimp when it comes to stuff like that...i have the big arms and hands to prove it too. Anyway for those who care here is a before and after make over of the infamous forum P Special: Before After This here is the Highway 1 P bass that i bought from Ebay the oher week: Before After I've ordered a pink and blue, paisley pattern, pickguard for the Highway 1, so the red guard may not be for good...even though i do dig it like a chimp digging for termites. Both basses sound pretty damn good with the intonation of the Highway 1 being spot on first time...i think that it suits the jazz neck better than the P Special ever did.
20. Another price drop: £320 inc post.
21. Forgot to say that the shape of the Musicman Bongo makes me feel like either shittin' or pukin'...so i guess that you could say that i'm not too keen on them either.
